Default HDMI Switches

Hey guys, another AV question!

How much would the use of an HDMI switch degrade the quality of my picture? I have an older LCD TV (still 1080P) so it only has 2 HDMI inputs.

Thanks again!

i don't notice any difference with my switch. it's just a pass through, so it's most likely very minimal. If it's a powered switch then it will most likely have a boost, so no degradation will result.

An HDMI switch should cause very little degradation, if any. (Unless it's poorly made or defective)

If you intend on using short HDMI cable runs (~10 ft or less) then any old switch should do. If you need runs of 20 ft+, then there are still options, but they get pricey [link].

I just got a 4x1 switch from Monoprice for my old DLP - it only has the one input, so this should do me well. Less than $30 USD.

The new goggles also do nothing.

You would notice any signal degradation right away, either you'd see sparklies all over the screen, or no signal at all.
