Default Microsoft Security Essentials

Bill's free antivirus, anti-spyware is now available. I just installed it on my laptop to try it out since I'll be updating to windows 7 soon anyways. It's pretty basic without even a firewall but if it works well and uses few resources, I'll like it.

A glowing review here

I uninstalled AVG and started using this a couple days ago. So far so good.. If it works as well as Windows Defender I will be happy. I was debating paying for NOD 32 last week.. I think I might hold off now and see what this is like.

A good anti-virus program is like a good stay at home defenceman ... it is probably doing a good job if you don't really notice it. AVG was starting to slow down my system quite a bit.

Windows has had a firewall since XP, why would they put another one in their AV?

Another positive outlook:

Though I might wait until the results of how good it actually is come in from the security experts, but from a piece of software point of view it looks good.

That doesn't look so good, but maybe the final version is better.

^^^^^^^ In a study paid for by Norton....not sure how much I can trust that.

I do hear you though, might be worth it to wait a bit for some more evidence as to it's effectiveness.

EDIT - this one was rather good...
