Niagra Falls Trip Advice
Going up for the weekend from Toronto and wanted to know if anybody had any advice in terms of transportation, what to see and things to look out for. Probably going to do the Maid of the Mist early in the day but would like to grab some beers afterwords and go out at night. Is there more to do on the Canadian side or American side? Just was looking for some advice or info from anyone who has made the trip. Thanks in advance

Canadian side.
Go to the Casino, drop a few bucks, see who is playing, might be a good gig.
Lots of good restaurants, find one...get a Cuban cigar for afterwards. Canyon Creek is good
See the falls.
Do the maid
Go to Niagara on the Lake before you get to Niagara Falls. Stop at 10 Wineries, get loaded, dont drive. One of the nicest areas in Canada to see.
Tons of places open at night...just trip it and ask around.

Look for good deals online. There are a ton of them. I use this site:
http://www.travelzoo.com/ca/
Heading up Sunday, for $109 got Falls view 2-room suite at Embassy Suites, $40 Dave and Busters certificate and $50 Keg credit (no limitations) as well as free transfers to/from casino.
Travelzoo has a special like that for Niagara Falls every week in its Top 20.

it's probably been about 30 years since i was last at niagara falls - but a memory i still have is going down into some tunnels that are under the falls. i'm not sure what they are called or if they are still open to the public, but it was cool.
i wanted to go on the maid of the mist but my parents nixed that idea!

Go to the skylon tower restaurant and have a meal, the view is beautiful. Don't waste your time with the rides at the amusement park, but check out the wax museum. its kinda neat.

Seconded. You simply cannot pass this place up, even if it is a bit pricey.
Otherwise, Fallsview Casino has gambling (duh), higher-end shopping, and concerts/shows, although it appears this weekend's performers cancelled on them. Clifton Hill is the typical tourist trap, with bars, fast-food and games. In particular, the Great Canadian Midway on Clifton has a great sports bar I tend to frequent in the evenings when I'm there; the beer is cheap and plentiful, and you can shoot pool or even bowl while you watch the games.
... And of course, if you tire of tourist traps and world wonders, you can always visit my stomping grounds in Hamilton, where there's always tons of fun to be had (*snerk*).

Take a cab to the American side if you like gambling and drinking. Drinks are free on at the Casino on that side. Though it is a poo-hole.
Sundowner.
There really is only one club downtown. Dragonfly.
Get a hotel room that overlooks the falls. The wife/fiancee/gf/ladies will love it.

I was curious to know if you are flying from Calgary to visit Niagara Falls, is it better to go to Toronto or the Kitchener Waterloo airport?
