Default How has no one mentioned this yet?

Thai government completes successful trial of experimental HIV vaccine which reduces infection by 31%. This is huge, huge news.

I think this is great news, however I'm really somewhat sceptical about vaccines for HIV because the damn thing changes so often.

This is of course very interesting news. I have lost friends to this terrible disease.

I've never known anyone personally who has had the disease, but it's always affected me on a personal level.

A few years ago, I stuck my hand into a Metro newsbox at the Fish Creek train station and got stuck with a used needle. I had to get tested twice and go through all of my treatment options just in case I was infected. Everything turned out okay, but it really tuned me in to the terrible fear and pain that people infected with HIV go through.

What is worse is that it often impacts the most socially marginal people first. It's an awful tragedy and even worse that ignorance has allowed this epidemic to rampage almost unchecked over the last 20 years.

That's an amazing break through. I reserve full excitement because it seems like false alarm "break throughs" in cancer and AIDS research occur semi-frequently.

But, I wonder: considering AIDS is a government created virus, why would the government conduct test trials for a vaccine?

Its not news because nobody really cares about AIDs unless it kills someone, or they get it.

I had a crazy guy the way to Vancouver LAST week tell me that he's turned hundreds of HIV positive to HIV negative through a diet of eating dehydrated Pakistani goldenberries and ionized water. This is in addition to being able to cure cancer within three months from a strict regimen of almonds, organic trail mix and dried fruit.

He also said the feds were after him because he's been able to circumvent the health care and pharmacy industries.

Don't you just love when people like that sit next to you on an airplane?

So you're telling us about the crazy guy you met next week, and you expect us to believe that he's the crazy one?
