Default Is this enough booze?

So our wedding is this Saturday and I made the executive decision to have an open bar. We were able to get a good deal on 3 flats (24 bottles) of beer and 10 26's (750ml) of hard booze last month. This was just to start us off so we wouldn't have to pay too much for liquor closer to the wedding

I was able to get my buddy who GM's at a restaurant to make a liquor order for me and I ended up ordering 13 more flats of beer, 35 26's and 36 bottles of wine. Our wedding has 92 guests in total. Two infants, a couple dozen older guests, but the rest will be around my age (25-30).

This works out to about 1/2 a 26 per person, 4 bottles of wine per table, and about four beers per person. I'm sure we won't run out of the hard stuff but 4 beers per person doesn't seem like that much.

Should I be worried that we're going to run out of beer? I know there's going to be some waste since its an open bar. Thoughts?

Between 4 beers, 1/2 a 26, and half a bottle of wine per person you have plenty to get each and every one of your guests downright drunk. The only issue you have with running out is that should one of those items become popular by a wide margin over the other two.

Yeah, I'd at least double the beer.
Remember, most liquor stores allow you to return booze as long as it isn't opened, so I'd say if cost isn't really an issue, buy more of evertying and return what you don't use.

It's already been said, but you shouldn't be too worried about running out of booze, but running out of one or two kinds of booze.

Of course if people are going to complain about not getting the exact free drink they want, you should kick their ass out of your wedding.

Ok, maybe I drink too much at open bar weddings then...

I think the last wedding that had an open bar, I had something like 15 beers, 6 glasses of wine, 5 glasses of champagne, a cigar ... and I managed to wake up 4 hrs later for breakfast and to catch a train out! I didn't even feel hung over, though it was probablycause I was still probably drunk and it was like taking a nap.

At the end of my cousin's wedding, people were fighting over the blueberry wine. There was also a vicious witch-hunt for those that were hording.

Depends. That would get me pretty sauced, but I tend to be a gamer at weddings so I'd be going for more.

I think in this situation, it's safe to have leftover than to run out. Grab more booze!

Was it 12 beers or was it 'like' 12 beers?

There's a handfull of girls at the wedding that will either not drink or have a couple glasses of wine. So we can knock about 15 people off?

Better double up on the beer just to be safe.

Seriously though, there's no such thing as too much beer.

They had an open bar at my cousins wake last July. I never saw so many drunk people in all my life. I had volunteered to be a disignated driver before I new it was an open bar. FML

NO, without even reading what you already purchased: no, not nearly enough

*pause to read what you purchased*

Hrmmm, average of 4 beer per person. Odds are not everyone will drink beer, you can bet that on average the ladies will be drinking mixed drinks. For those that do drink beer, you'll have the odd guy that will be on just the hard stuff. Throw in 4 bottles of wine per table.

Personally I think you'll be fine. It's not like you're wedding is in the Maritimes

That said, having never been to a wedding outside of the Maritimes before (come to think of it Nova Scotia) what is the rate of wedding crashers? What I mean is, not Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Farrell, but people you're friends with but didn't make the cut to get an invite? Where I'm from it's generally casual friends who might be good friends of invitees, people that are friends but don't make the "we have a budget and can only invite 100 people" but you want them to be there, crowd. Do you have many of these people? I know if I was to get married tomorrow my wedding would probably be about 150 people, and the reception the number would drastically increase.

You have to think of the wedding crashers. Even so, you're probably ok. Is there a cash bar if the alcohol runs out? If so, screw'em go with what you got.

On a side note, a wedding I was at last summer the bride and groom said in their thank you speech "we put $1000 down at the bar, from this point on have a drink on us". That basically was open bar the rest of the night for a small wedding of mostly family and close friends.

I drank more than that after a funeral last night, so I'm going to go with 'no'

I'd say too much hard liquor and not enough beer. But that's probably just cause I like beer.
