FF: Steam is giving away Portal for free until May 24th
Just had this forwarded to my email; Steam is giving away Portal for free until the 24th.
http://store.steampowered.com/freeportal/
It'll add on to your steam account.
Remember though, the cake is a lie.

Are you kidding me?? I just bought this for someone...
Oh well.
Even if you are not that big into video games, I suggest you give this one a shot. It is a hell of a lot of fun!

Haha, love the text too... I posted this earlier, and I've already downloaded it, but just now read the text on that page:
Quote:
Portal used to cost money. Until May 24th, it's free. End of story.
Well, technically speaking, there are some strings attached. Fortunately, they're entirely decorative. We just like the way they look, swaying in the gentle breeze created by a million people simultanously fainting from shock at the news that Portal is free. Now you have no reason not to try Portal.
"I have a reason," some of you are probably typing into an angry email. "You see, sir, I own a Mac."
Well guess what: For the first time ever, Portal is also available for the Mac.
"Capital news! But the excellent puzzle adventure Portal won over 40 Game of the Year awards; Surely it must cost at least five or six hundred dollars."
You'd think that, especially since it actually won over 70 Game of the Year Awards. But, like we keep saying, Portal is free. Free on the Mac. Free on the PC. But only until May 24th. So you only have a few days to decide if your free copy of Portal is worth the price we're currently charging - which is you ever-so-slightly moving your index finger just barely enough to click the big red "download" button right there to the left.
|
Edit: This isn't some lame "fata" thing btw. This should be posted 27 more times. "Free Portal" trumps "Fata" any day.

Server's probably getting pounded right now. Refreshing the page a couple times worked for me.

You guys know HL2: Deathmatch and HL2: Lost Cost are also free for nVidia and ATI graphics cards owners, right?

It's hard to overstate my satisfaction..... with Portal.
It was the one of the only games I never wanted, that became a favorite. I bought orange box for the HL games and Team Fortress 2. Played TF2 twice and never touched it again, played through a level of HL2 then played Portal for a week after accidentally selecting it in the load menu.

I had no clue about that. I just downloaded both tonight because I have an ATI card in my laptop.
It was surprisingly simple, I just clicked that link and then clicked another link, and then logged into my Steam account and bam! I was already downloading the two free games in addition to the free Portal I was already downloading.

Is Portal the game the gave away with Half-life 2?
If so I found it boring, admittedly I didn't give it much of a chance though.
edit: missed SebC post

Give it another chance. If you are expecting a FPS game you will be disappointed. It is really a puzzle game in a FPS viewpoint.
