Hey guys, I am planning on getting an MP3 player.

I dont want an IPOD bc they are just way to expensive at this point.

Is there anything under a 100 bucks that can hold like 40-50 songs?

If so where can I find one?

Thanks.

MP10's are pretty sweet, I have one, I got it in New York before they were in Canada (the one with 256mb memory), they were pricy because it was over a year ago. I think they have gone down substantially....I also heard you can get other brands that transmit to radio's like the IPOD does though

before you discount the ipod, remember, you can get an Ipod Shuffle for 129 bucks. Holds about 250 songs....

You could try this. Curtis MP3 Player

It's 256 MB but I have a 128 mb MP3 player and it holds 60 songs once you convert your songs to WMA. So basically you'd be able to hold over 100 songs which more than anyone would need IMO.

Something I hate about the iPod shuffle is you have to get songs from iTunes which really sucks.

What do you mean by that?

I am looking for something that I can just pop into my USB port w/o installing any software and just dragging the MP3s into the folder.

And, Thanks for the help so far guys!

I think you have to buy songs off iTunes. iPod Shuffle

Go there and scroll down to media compatability. It has none where as mp3 players support mp3 and WMA. I think batteries are different as well. mp3 players use AAA and iPod uses integrated USB. Hopefully that helps your decision a bit.

Thats cheaper than anything that I saw yesterday.

I went shopping for them and I saw all kinds of them.

The general price was 100-130 bucks for 128MB.

So you got a pretty good deal.

Looks like I need to try this thing called EBay.

The IPOD mini does not require you to get tunes from itunes. Is the shuffle different?
Yes it is.

According to the Apple website the Ipod shuffle should play mp3s.

This is the exact one I got:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...5748441839&rd=1

One thing, I'll let you know is that, it does feel cheap. Not super high quality like a brand name or anything. But it works great. I can use it as a memory stick too for large files. I haven't had one single problem and I use it everyday at the gym. That seller has 1gb ones for $179.

The reason they feel cheap is because there is absolutely nothing to them. All they are is data players.

I have also heard that there is only one or two places in the world that can fix them....anyone know if this is true? Or was the guy at Future Shop being dishonest?

I am so confuesd right now.

I have no idea what to get.

I find the IPOD's are a little big, and really expensive.

I like the little Panasonic one, buts it only 128 MB. It is also $129.99, and that is the one that I am leaning towards right now.

Does anyone sell IPOD's in the downtown area?

iPod's are expensive, and they are big - but that is because you get frickin 20 or 40 GIG'S!!!

Just got an iPod 40G'er. Amazing little machine. In 2 weeks I will have more music than I would ever had owned before.

All my CD's took up about 4 Gig's. Went to a buddy's house and got anoth 2 gig's of music in 20 minutes. Good music that is not in my collection. Will go over to other friends' houses for to get more.

128 Meg's is like 3 CD's worth.

Basically you have 4 choices.

1. Flash memory based player. No moving parts, great for active playback (workout or jogging or whatever), limited by memory (usually 128MB - 1GB).

TigerDirect has quite a few: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/cat....asp?CatId=1697

2. Disk based MP3 player. Either a CD player that plays MP3's burned onto a CD or a Sony MiniDisc type player. CD player with MP3 playback can be super cheap. $40 - $200

3. Small HDD based player. 1-5GB hard drive in the player. Super small but enough storeage to store weeks worth of music.

4. Large HDD based player. 20GB+. Never have to delete a song off it again.
