Well the loss was entirely expected because we had to rest Cloutier, but being shutout for the first time this season hurts...

More Moreau!

Wild Post Key Win Against Kings

Its not Ethan Moreau's role to score goals.

But the Wild are happy when he does.

Case in point - Monday evening's game against the LA Kings in which Moreau scored a 1st period natural hat trick to stake the Wild to a 3-0 lead.

Of course, fans will recall that just last week the Wild had a 3-0 lead against this same Kings team and would go on to lose the game. However today would be different as the Wild took advantage of the fact that the King's rested #1 Dan Cloutier to post a 5-0 win.

Game Notes
- Petr Nedved scored his 40th goal of the season for the Wild while David Legwand scored his 20th.
- Dan Boyle and Chris Phillips had feisty games dolling out 5 and 6 hits respectively

Challenge Update

Minnesota Wild GM and Head Coach Grant Farhall has stated that the Wild must be in a playoff spot and gain 12 points in the next 10 games. Here is an update after the first game

Feb. 12th - Oilers - TIE - 1 point
Feb. 14 - Kings - WIN - 2 point
Feb. 16 - Sharks
Feb. 17 - Bolts
Feb. 21 - Sharks
Feb. 22 - Devils
Feb. 24 - Kings
Feb. 25 - Rangers
Feb. 26 - Canucks
Feb. 27 - Devils

Point Target: 12
Points Achieved: 3
Points Required: 9 points in 8 games
Record Required: 4-3-1 or better
Playoff Position: Yes

Rangers 6 - Panthers 5

Wow, Rangers start the game extremely poorly. Panthers score 4 goals in the first period. With the Rangers only getting two.

Rangers score one in the second to make it 4-3.

Going into the third the Rangers score another making it 4-4. Panthers take the lead once again in the third but the Rangers tie it up and get the winner with 50 seconds left.

Great game!!

Game Stars

1 - Ivan Novoseltsev (PAN)
2 - Viktor Kozlov (RAN)
3 - Mike Ribeiro (PAN)

Game Highlights

Goals - Viktor Kozlov - 2
Assists - Richard Park - 2
Points - Viktor Kozlov - 3

Next Game against the Habs

Yzerman, Daze lead the way in Islander victory

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Steve Yzerman and Eric Daze had three points each as the Islanders erupted in the third period to finish the game with a 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Only a day after being involved in a scoreless draw with the St. Louis Blues, the same New York Islanders took to the ice of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and lit the lamp seven times to coast to a 7-4 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Isles received markers from seven different scorers as Yzerman, Daze, Foote, Boumedienne, Arnott, and Cassels all ended up scoring in the Valentine's night match up.

Miroslav Satan, who was recently acquired in the controversial deal which saw both Brendan Morrison and Phillipe Boucher go to Florida, had an assist and now has 7 points in his first 7 games as an Islander and is an impressive +3.

"I'm happy to be here," the All Star forward said. "We have a playoff team, and I hope we'll get a chance to play in the post-season this year."

Al MacInnis tallied two assists and once again led the Islanders' defence in ice-time as he and his linemate played half of the game.

"Al and Willie work great together out there," Islanders coach commented. "They compliment each other so well, and play extremely well on both ends of the ice."

The Islanders will rest on Tuesday as they prepare for Wednesday's match-up against the Maple Leafs in Toronto, where newly-acquired forward Petr Cajanek should make his debut as an Islander.

GOOD!!!! Keep up the good work, I am sure the Stars can finish below the Canucks :P

The Hawks lost tonight. We gave back up goalie Mikael Tellqvist a chance at a big game tonight, to see how he would do against one of the big boys. While the Hawks didn't win, the team played well, and Tellqvist was not bad.

Ryan Malone was ejected from the game once again, this time for injuring Henrik Tallindar with a viscious elbow. Perhaps we should cut back on the steak tartar

OILERS DUMP STARS ON VALENTINES DAY
I think we should just be friends....

Well like a young man struggling to find the right women, the Oilers have had mixed results of late. But like most men in the dating scene the Oilers seem to have old reliable to go to whenever they feel desperate for some action. For the Oilers old reliable is the Dallas Stars. A team that clearly is going to need some schrewd moves from management to ascend the CPHL standings the Stars are the one paper mismatch that usually play the part on ice for the Oilers. Todays game was no exception as the Oilers ran out to a 5-0 lead after two periods and coasted home for the 7-2 win at the Rexall Place.

It was the Czech duo of Radek Dvorak and Bobby Holik who helped pace the Oiler attack with two goals each. The Oilers received goals from all 4 lines in the win as Vincent Lecavalier, Kristian Huselius, and Tony Hrkac all found the net. Sebastien Caron recorded his third win of the year against the Stars and ran his record on the season to 12-5. The Oilers held a decided edge in play outshooting the Stars 41-21 and chasing starting Star goalie Brian Boucher just past the midway point in the game.

After the game Oiler GM Sylvanfan was calm for the first time in weeks assessing his teams performance. "For once the good play on the ice resulted in a nice result on the scoreboard. Our PP and PK were crap, but our even strength play was solid. But we can't gloat over this win as these guys get another shot at us come Wednesday and we can't afford a let down. Nashville, Phoenix, and Anaheim are all playing phenominal and even if we win 10 straight games chances are all of those teams will find a way to gain on us in the standings as they've all been amazing in the past 20+ games. Still we've been playing better of late, and hopefully we can get on a bit of a roll here and maybe catch up to those bloody Preds."

After an offday tommorrow the Oilers will head to Dallas for a rematch with the Stars on Wednesday.

St. Pete Times

Game Story

Once again the Lightning managed to allow another team to score 7 goals on them and in no surprise at all they managed to score 4 goals themselves. It was the 7th time the Lightning have allowed 7 goals this season and the 4th time that they managed to score 4 goals in those games. Taylor Pyatt continued his hot play as he scored for the third straight game and added two assists. Felix Potvin was horrible letting in 5 saves on 20 shots and John Grahame didn’t do much better only allowing two goals on eleven shots.

The Springfield Falcons won once again as they pounded the Bridgeport 9-0.

The Lightning next play on Tuesday as they take on the Phoenix Coyotes in Tampa Bay.

HORTON HEARS A "WHO'S THAT GUY?"

On a day when love is in the air, the "City of Bortherly Love" got a heart-shaped box of whoop-ass in the form of a 6-3 Capitals win. All Star Game 4th liner Nathan Horton returned to lead the Capitals to their 29th victory of the season, potting 2 goals and 1 assist in the win.

Alexi Zhamnov had to have been the happiest Cap to see Horton return, as he found the net once, and passed the puck a few times, notching 3 assists. Martin "Chincy" Ruchinsky also managed to joih linemates Zhamnov and Horton on the 3 stars, notching the 2nd star with a 3 point performance of his own.

Rumours say Ruchinsky shed a single tear at the end of the game when Horton told him "Nice Game". It's been a while since he's had one of those.

Curtis Joseph continued his stellar play since coming to the Caps, stopping 28 of 31 shots his way. Joseph recorded his 22 win on the season, 9th with Washington.

The Capitals host Dallas tonight, in what is expected by all, expect Superfraggle, to be a romp in the Capitals favour. Then again, this is the CPHL, where anything can happen.

A tired and beaten up Senators squad limped home to play the Bruins and it showed. The Bruins owned the game from the start and rolled to a 4-2 win.

We now have a day off before playing the Hurricanes. We are still looking for revenge vs the Hurrincanes who have twice taken Turco out early in games to get wins over us.
