Default Kid fakes kidnapping to get rid of report card

Ha, probably something I would have done, if I'd thought of it! Hilarious.

That would suck getting a report card 9 days into the school year.

PS I didn't read the article so I don't know how long the boy has actually been in class for.

“He got a bad report card,” Sgt. Roberts told CNN. “And he couldn’t figure out anyway to say his book bag was lost or stolen.” By concocting the kidnapping narrative, the boy “wouldn’t have to fess up to his bad report card.”

I'm amused by all the comments following the news story suggesting that the police should look into the possibility that it's an abusive household if the boy is so scared to bring home a bad report card. Do these people have no memory of what it's like to be ten? The shame of a bad mark would be enough to make me want to hide it from my parents, regardless of the fact that my parents would not punish me for it.

Sounds like a gem of a kid. Not taking responsibility for his own laziness by becoming a liar at such a young age.

His parents must be so proud of him.

When I had a report card that was not completely flattering, I'd wait until Monday morning before giving it to my parents. Then I'd get it signed quick and be off to school before any lecture could take place.

Or as my dad would say.

"Son you know you have to eventually come home right?"

My biggest nights of terror were parent teacher nights, my parents always left home in a good mood, and came back in an incredibly bad mood.

My parents never had to do that for me. They had enough unscheduled parent teacher days that they wouldn't be necessary. And if they had an been in an incredibly bad mood after one of those meeting, it would be have been a welcome relief.

Yeah, they always got the same stuff from about me

"Your son is really smart, he'd do well if he applied himself"

Followed by

"The lab fire started at his work station"

followed by

"5 fights in the last week alone"

Followed by

"His sisters were so polite and well behaved and did so well, we would say the same about your son but he's never here"

Ha!
Isn't getting kidnapped the ultimate example of not having street smarts?
So saying you got kidnapped to avoid showing off a bad report card is kind of like saying "Yeah I'm not book smart, but at least I'm not street smart"

Why didn't the kid just file a human rights complaint against his teacher claiming discrimination?
