Andrews said that he became a big fan of the Abbotsford pitch during a fact-finding trip earlier in the spring. After meeting with local politicians and touring the sparkling 7,000-seat Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre, the AHL commish realized that the Fraser Valley was an ideal market for the league.


“I certainly came away from that meeting understanding that it’s a terrific hockey market – the Fraser Valley itself, not just Abbotsford,” Andrews said. “There is an untapped market for pro hockey in that region.”
