I'm quitting my job - need advice on how I should go about it?
Can someone tell me the best way to quit my ty job? I've been there for 1.5 months now and totally regret even applying for this job in the first place. I want out ASAP! Doesn't help when I'm afraid of the big lady boss. My goal was to follow what most of my friends told me and that was to work this job till I find another. But I can't deal with this BS job anymore.

Write a letter giving your 2 weeks notice and put it on her desk?
You're 27 MissKat, you've done this before.

You should hold a meeting, ask a really dumb question that garners a bunch of responses from all involved, then sneak out the door and never come back to participate in the discussion.

Yeah you have to write a letter. I know it's hard sometimes- I remember being terrified before walking in with the letter a few times in the past. My only advice though is to be 100% sure you know this is the right choice for you. Don't waffle on it!

Tell your boss you're sick of your office mate flexing his muscles in front of you and parading his latest flings around the building. Completely unprofessional.

1.5 months? Just quit showing up. You're still on 3 month probation or test period. This period works both ways, they can fire you without reason and you can quit without notice. Pretend you never worked there & don't put it on your resume.

So a letter is better than sitting down with her and telling her face to face? If I wasn't so scared of her I wouldn't be so hesistant ansd scared to do this.

Only 1.5 months? You're probably still in your probationary period. Just quit. Hell, I've made a living out of it! I quit all the time! It's fun.
Seriously, unless this is some law firm or you're in Hollywood and fear working in the town ever again, just quit. It ain't gonna kill you or the big boss lady who will likely find a replacement in a couple days anyways.

I've quit/been let go from tonnes of jobs, it's just the nature of the beast in the field that I'm in. Just walk in and tell them you're quitting. As another poster stated previously, DON'T WAFFLE! Be confident and tell them that a better opportunity has come up, thanks them for the opportunity they have given you, and wish them best of luck in the future. There's no two week requirement if you have only been there for six weeks.

Is there any benefit in handing a written letter as opposed to telling them?

Seriously? I'd only do that if I absolutely adored the boss or something. Probationary period allows you to quit without notice, and be fired without notice. I've worked at my share of crap jobs in the past, and if it absolutely blew before the probationary period ended, I just slept in the day I decided to not go back and ignored the one phone call they make.
Meh.
