Default Toronto FC have a great weekend.

A big win at home and a big signing as well. Be sweet if they could make the playoffs. Just because I would really like to see soccer succeed this time in North America.

Frankly I think TFC has the best fans in the whole league. Plus with the Whitecaps and very likely the Impact joining the league in the next 2 to 3 years we could actually win something for a change.

Well, it was basically win today or kiss your playoff hopes goodbye. Thankfully the Crapids suck.

They signed Julian de Guzman. I'm not sure why he's willing to throw his career away at age 28 - he sucked last year in Spain and only made 17 appearances all season. He hasn't played in months and months now so they must have backed the Brinks truck up into his front yard to get him to come play in the MLS. Good move for TFC though now that Dichio has retired.

Noone was making him an offer so sitting on your butt would be more a career killing move. He is making good dough with TFC and if he performs doors will open up again for him elsewhere. Plus he sounded thrilled today that he can play in his hometown. Heck he has played around the world, plays with the Canadian team, is making good dough and now gets to play in front of the most rabid fans in the MLS.

I'd say he was doing fine.

No way, he's gone from being a fully professional to playing in the beer league that is the MLS. Most of these guys are on 20-30k a year. In La Liga, where he was playing , the average salary is 14 thousand euro PER WEEK.

He was being paid zilch per week. So whatever he is getting in the MLS it's more than he would have been getting sitting on his arse. Plus it will be far more than average as he is the designated franchise player or whatever they call it.

As a TFC and a Canadian soccer fan I'm glad to see him here.
