Calgary Sledge Hockey Cornucopia 2011-12 Season

2011 was a big year for Calgary Sledge hockey.

The last year marked the inauguration of the Alberta Sledge Hockey League, 4 teams:

Edmonton Impact (intermediate and senior 'A' excluded)
Calgary Scorpions (senior and intermediate teams)
Red Deer Rage (senior)
Battle River Icehawks (senior)

Next year we hope to have a senior team in Edmonton and a team from Lethbridge.

The Calgary Scorpions first league game was against Red Deer Rage and resulted in a 4-0 loss.
(We will get them next game!)

In 2011 Calgary successfully hosted the World Sledge Hockey Challenge. Canada retained the Gold!

2012 has already been busy for the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association.

Jan 1st: Demo for Hockey Day in Calgary at Olympic Plaza.

Jan 2nd: Demo at the WinSport Passport to Sport at Canada Olympic Park.

Both events were very successful. In 2012, we are not slowing down at all. I will post upcoming events in this thread for those that are interested.

There may or may not be a segment on Calgary Sledge Hockey Assoc. in this series; “Home Ice Advantage: Hockey In Calgary” will be airing a number of times this weekend.

Sunday Jan. 15 @ 10am, 3pm and 9pm

If anyone caught Breakfast Television on Wednesday morning you may have seen me instructing Leah Sarich on the finer points of sledge propulsion. CityTV was highlighting the SAIT Trojans women's hockey team vs Calgary Scorpions game. 6 am ice time is fantastic!
