Right now the US is involved in a lengthy War in Iraq. The problem is that the forces resisting the US forces in Iraq are fighting what they see as invaders of their country, and as was the result in Vietnam, when this is the case it is very hard for the 'invaders' to succeed.
I dont know if I agree with the USAs role in Iraq. For one thing they are trying to inprove the lives of the citizens, with democracy and the removal of oppresion that many citizens of the country face. But there also is the idea of the war being because of only Oil as well. I am starting to see the war without the possibility of success, as the US's enemys truely believe they are fighting for the survival of their country. And for that I find it hard to blame them.
So here is the Senerio. Canada is invaded by the US, our army holds out for say 3 days, but is inevitably over run by US forces. They come to occupy Canada, with a military presence similar to that of US forces in Iraq.
Would you fight back against the occupying forces, much like they are doing in Iraq, or would you let the occupiers just do there thing.
I can tell you I wouldnt just sit back and let it happen. So to that end can we really blame the "Terrorists" in Iraq from fighting back against a group of people they see as Invaders?
My reaction would depend entirely on why they invaded us in the first place. If they removed a guy like Saddam I'd help them invade, but if they came for our Oil and women I'd recreate Red Dawn.

I'd probably sign up with DirecTV. Maybe stock up on beer.
I guess for me it wouldn't be a big deal if the US invaded; seeing as we are such similar countries.
Now, if Canada was invaded by another country like Russia or China- and for some reason the Americans decided not to help us; that would be a different story all together.

I would fight tooth and nail in any way I could, as would most people I know, until they were driven back... then, like Caged Great, I would burn the White House twice!

I know this is just for arguments sake, but realistically, an annexation of Canada by the U.S. would probably not happen under the threat of a gun. The U.S. has the ability to crush Canada economically and pretty much take our resources at wholesale any time they want.
I think they could take us over without a single soldier, although it would probably take a few decades of undermining our sovereignty to the point that Canada became a puppet sate or satellite of the U.S., then eventually was annexed through an Anschluss-like take over.
As for the actually question, I don't know if I'd fight back if the U.S. regime was still allowing personal freedom and a similar standard of living. If my way of life and freedom was not under threat, I'd probably rather live as an American than die as a Canadian nationalist. If the U.S. had been corrupted by a dictator or terrible regime, then I'd join a resistance.

I would personally laugh. I dont think the US would ever do that.
Like the OP said basically we are the same country. Personally I think its a crock that we americans cant come to canada with out a passport but the americans did that to them first.
If China or russia invaded canada I bet half the world would be in canada/russia in a heart beat.

As someone who holds citizenship with both nations, this is an interesting question, indeed.
I suppose the nations are similar enough that the real every day differences might not be substantive... depending on the height of the conflict and visible military presence for civilians.
Realistically, though, I don't think very many Americans would be in support of a war against Canada. The disagreement to start such a war on Canadian soil would need be obscenely significant or heinous, and in that case, Canadians' opinions on the subject might even be in support of America (this is unlikely, but hypothetically, you never know).
Besides blatantly egregious infringements on human rights on either side, I'd likely stay neutral. Unless I was conscripted by one or the other... that could cause some confusion!

Your words are too big. I will shoot you first Yankee.
I am also a citizen of both countries.
