Game 11: Stamps at Hamilton
For the past few seasons, Stamps play the weak Hamilton Tigercats only to be surprised on how well those guys played against them. A few seasons ag, we lost Burris to an injury after a hit by I believed Zeke Moreno close to the end of the game.
This season, Hamilton is a lot better than before so I don't think the Stamps will take them lightly at their game on Friday night. Stamps are tied for first place in the West with Riders at 6-4 record while Hamilton(5-5) is 2nd in the East just behind Montreal.
OFFENSE: Henry Burris didn't have a good game early against the Eskimos last week. He was picked off 3 times by the Esks defense but when the game is close and it matters, Burris delivered by engineering 2 TD in the 4th quarter. The most exciting were the TD pass to Copeland with less than a minute to go in the game.
Joffrey Reynolds to my surprise were the forgotten man again. He wasn't involved at all in the game. He was rarely used to run the ball and caught a few balls. Makes you wonder why the Esk DLine suddenly were successful in going after Burris. Jermaine Copeland had a great game again thus winning the Offensive Player of the Week. Last season Reynolds ran wild against Hamilton carrying the ball 17 times for 128 yards and 2 TD. Ryan Thelwell have been reliable lately and Ralph finally were thrown the ball. Can't say enough about Lewis with his blocking and gaining yardages after the catch.
DEFENSE: DL Jim Davis has a monster game against his former team. Davis had 4 tackles, 3 QB sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. No wonder he won the Defensive Player of the Week. I hope he continue playing well. With Charleston Hughes and George might be coming back, there was a rumour that Odell Willis will be the odd man out. I don't know why but I would have sit Juwan Simpson instead of Willis. MLB Tim Johnson were good again. It is probably not a coincidence that the defense are starting to play much better since he came along. I have to think MLB Trey Blackmon's days with he the Stamps will be over soon follwing Davanzo Tate's fate. The other LB crew Malik Jackson is fitting in nicely. Shannon James is quiet but he is getting the job done while Carpenter has been good in relief.
On secondary, DB John Eubanks played well against the Eskimos that prompted the Stamps coaching staff to get rid of Tate. Ron Amadi is still not good enough but he is improving as he play more games.
SPECIAL TEAM: Even though Burke Dales were hurting, he still played well. Yes we might not notice how he kick the ball but most of the time, he's been angling his punt really well. I just love this guy's tough especially when he stopped Tristan Jackson from scoring a punt return for TD. He just slammed the guy to the ground.
********
I really think the Stamps can beat the TiCats. QB Kevin Glenn I think is average QB but he does his job. He is a bit streaky though so I think if the Stamps defense keep on pressuring Glenn, he won't have time throwing to Bruce and Rodriguez. Tim Johnson and the boys will have to stop Cobb though. I watched the 2 games Hamilton played against Toronto and I noticed that the coaching staff does not want to use Cobb that much especially late in the game. Kind of strange because I thought the guys is qucik and fast.
MORE UPDATES TO COME BEFORE GAME TIME.
GO STAMPS GO!!!

Like I said in the picks thread, this could be a trap game for the Stamps. I believe the Cats are starting Porter at QB tonight.

This will be a really good test for Calgary's secondary. That's the one part of the team that is still suspect, and I'm sure Hamilton has watched the footage of the last few games and realized that Edmonton rarely tested the secondary deep. Hamilton won't stick to the dink-and-dunk plays that Edmonton used.

EDM could not pass deep, because CGY took it away with zone defence. I expect this will continue until Browner comes back.

I want to see something from the D-Line this game. As in the whole unit. Not just one guy making a few plays.

I love your write ups every week, I find them very informing. But could you please stop referring to single players with were and have. Was and has. Sorry to be grammar nazi, but it makes it a little confusing to read for me. I do wish we had two or three Labinjo's though.

I agree. I think this will be a low-scoring game that will be decided by three or four points and it could go either way. Hamilton is good at home, coming off a bad loss to Toronto, and Porter will be anxious to show he should be permanent starter.
Hopefully the Stamps aren't letting up mentally having won three in a row, especially when they didn't really play well last game in Edmonton.
I think the Stamps will pull out a close one, say 20-17, but I wouldn't at all be shocked if they lost.

14-3 for Stamps so far. All 14 points off of a couple of turnovers by the Ticats deep in their own zone.

Ho hum. Game in the 2nd quarter and the Stamps offence still hasn't got off the bus.

Well if Thelwell hadn't dropped that pass, it might have been 21-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Well so much for that. I don't like that play call, going for big yards when your offense so far is doing not much of anything. Need to get some offensive rhythm going.

Same old same old. Burris more interested in big plays than making first downs. Hopefully Cortez doesn't take 3 quarters to bring out the quick slants and short crossing patterns to actually start moving the football rather than continually going for the big play. Take away the turnovers and this could be a rout for the Ti-Cats.

Porter must be the fastest guy on the field, the Stamps can't sack this guy. Stamps just turned over the ball on the return, lame.

Why is Ryan still returning punts?
Give him kick return duties, but he clearly can't handle punt returning.
