Default RIP Fuel 90.3

There's a very credible rumour going around that Fuel will be no more, starting tomorrow.

There's no hosts on the moring show, just music and commercials.

Only Jax is said to be retained.

I must say, as far as the music goes, I love 90s alternative, so I ejoyed the format. But after the last ratings book, it does surprise me they are dying.

Fuel was usually my second stop if X92.9 was on a commercial break.

DAMNIT!!! The only radio station I could stand listening too...looks like its X92.9.

90.3 had a great mix of music, decent dj's, etc...and beats the crap of CJAY.

Anything beats CJAY, that station has been eradicated from my radio ever since we received the batch of new stations.

It seems there was always a decent song playing on Fuel. Sad to hear.

I was reading somewhere that across North America, a lot of stations are dropping different formats and going with the best cost model, that being top 40. Ugh.

Well this blows goats. Fuel is probably my favorite music station in Calgary. But this seemed inevitable. It's so similar to 92.9 there's no way two stations that are so similar can survive in a town of 1 million people.
Too bad it's not CJAY dying.

Why don't we just exterminate all the Nickelbacks?

Fuel always played the best music in Calgary IMO, but they couldn't break into the market. I think there are as many FM radio stations in Calgary or very close to, as there are where I'm from in Sydney, Australia. That's a city of 1M vs a city of around 4M. Hugely overcrowded market, and Fuel couldn't break in where CJAY, X929, Jack already play similar style of music.

Damn, and just when I started listening to Fuel 90.3. Three weeks ago I tuned in for the first time, and I could have swore they were playing Pennywise. Not too sure if it was them or not, but it sure sounded like them.

Fuel 90.3 would have been my second favorite radio station, right behind X 92.9.

I'll give you a guess to what Fuel is flipping to, reportedly.

But don't we already have two top 40 stations as well - Vibe and 101.5? Is a third really going to be that successful in the Calgary market? Boourns.
