Default Painting Stucco

Is it a good idea? I've heard that it keeps the Stucco from breathing.

Is there better alternatives to changing the colour of your Stucco coated house??

I've painted a stucco house before. It was a PITA. It took a lot of paint, but it looked good, and it worked. The paint is still on it 5 years later with no complaints from the owner.

You'll need to spray it if you do - rolling it will take forever and 100x the paint as the stucco will want to soak it in like a sponge, (see worth's post above).

I've already got Stucco and am looking at hiring someone to either paint it or Fog Coat it. I'm afraid the Fog Coat will be more and it's a pretty bug house so I don't know if I can afford it.

I was hoping to get some opinions on painting to see if it performs resonably well on a Stucco surface.

You probably will get differing opinions on this, but you can paint it. It will take quite a bit of paint and a lot more labour than painting a normal surface. If you get someone to paint it, make sure they use a product that is designed for exterior stucco and masonry. Or, choose the product yourself and specify it in the contract. Read the installation instructions and make sure they follow it to the letter.

If you Google for "calgary exterior stucco painters" you will find a listing for at least one company that provides this service. This isn't an endorsement - I have no idea if this company is any good or not.
