If Bell TV is anything like Bell Wireless then Rogers is a far better option and I've probably sworn at Rogers' CSRs more then any customer they've ever had.

Then leave.
I have 4 HD-PVRs and all are still working perfectly.

What exactly is wrong with Rogers wireless? I've had them for 8 years now and frankly, I'm not sure if the hatred for them is just blown out of proportion or I'm extremely lucky.

Go here, you'll find lots of company, me included and even CSRs admitting Bell are lying liars.

Personally the hardware is about the only reason I stay with Bell but everyone has their own experiences. Oh yeah and the channel I can't get at Shaw along with Centre Ice isn't available here.

I have (1) 9200 that is almost 4 years old, (2) 9200 that are about 2.5 years old and (1) 9242 that almost a year old. All work perfectly and I actually have a 5200 that is probably close to 6 years old that I turned on about a month ago and still works. Of course trying to sell it is impossible because its so old.

Bell's satellite programming is awful.
I rarely find any movies worth watching in the 312 area. rarely watch primetime television unless its PVR'd to skip commercials, but thats only good if you pay attention to when seasons are starting (and all providers have the same main channels for them).
I find that I only ever find interesting programming on natural geographic, history or food network. Otherwise its a few minutes of flicking then the tv gets turned off.
In comparison, Shaw digital with HBO channels is packed with the main programming, and has a crapload of on free demand material such as whole seasons of HBO shows, and movies that are just barely fresh out of the theatres.

I just don't get it. If you don't like the service then leave, there are companies I have had problems with that people seem to love but personally I won't buy their product or service instead of just crying about it daily.

I just switched off of Bell after many years. I had the HD PVR and was happy with it. I'd had it for about 18 months.
I got a call from Shaw asking why I have my phone and internet with them and not TV. Told them I was waiting for a good deal. So they offered me:
2 free hdpvrs (motorola 3416)
2 months free service (full cable, and hd plus)
5months for 38.95
regular price 67.95
NO contract
free NHL centre ice full season
I took them up their offer and it was installed today.
The funny part was calling Bell to cancel. They wouldn't take no for an answer. It took me 15 minutes on the phone to get them to cancel my account. They tried to offer me 40% off, free PVR rental for a year, etc. It was actually a pretty great deal.
So the moral of the story is: If you like Bell, you should call and threaten to cancel at least once a year because Shaw is offering you a better deal. They will save you a bunch of money and give you awesome stuff.
If you want to get the same deal I got, PM me. I'll give you the email contact at Shaw. You have to be a current Bell customer and you have to swap them a satellite receiver. I bought one for $20 on Craigslist.

No opinion on Bell's television service, but I've been a Bell Mobility customer for 4 1/2 years and they've been great about everything I've ever had a problem with.

What?
For some reason you think HBO is any different on shaw? I have 4 different HBO's on my sub...2 in HD. I dare you to show me shaw has more or different.

I have been trying for a year to get bell to send me a box to return a rental receiver that I am still being charged for. It's so dumb. I jsut got a credit on my count...but still no box. Right now I am renting an HD PVR. Does anyone know if they'll give me the unit outright if I threaten to go to shaw?

Bell is the fu**ing devil. They're god damn con artists. If you ever cancel with them, you'd better keep all your documentation and then WATCH YOUR FU**ING CREDIT REPORT FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS!
F*** Bell. I'll never use them for anything ever again. I don't care what changes they make or if they're the only one with something that I want. I'll go without it before those thieves and liars get any (more) of my money.
