Default Flash Player 10.1 beta

Flash Player 10.1 beta

This new flash player takes advantage of your video card instead of using your processor. I'm trying it out and instead of my processor using from 30% to 80% on HD videos and my video card only using 6%,now my video card is using 50 to 80% of it's power and my processor usage has dropped to about 30%. The only problem I've encountered is I've lost audio the odd time.

A prerelease version of Flash Player 10.1 is now available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems. Sign up to be notified when Flash Player 10.1 for Palm Pre beta is available.
This public prerelease is an opportunity for developers to test and provide early feedback to Adobe on new features, enhancements, and compatibility with previously authored content. Consumers can try the beta release of Flash Player 10.1 to preview hardware acceleration of video on supported Windows PCs and x86-based netbooks. You can also help make Flash Player better by visiting all of your favorite sites, making sure they work the same or better than with the current player. We definitely want your feedback to help improve the final version, expected to ship in the first half of 2010.

Here's a review

this is a beta offering and doesn't work with all video cards so read the review.

It's staggeringly better on my old MacBook Pro, although I'm seeing plenty of crashes with youtube videos now, especially while running fullscreen.

It's better, but that's like saying solid feces is better than diarrhea. No hardware acceleration on Mac's, which Adobe blames on Apple. NHL Gamecentre Live does run better than it used to, at least. It also reintroduces the bug where scrolling past Flash objects causes your browser to stop scrolling as soon as the pointer hits the flash object. As an example, scroll through any forum thread here with embedded YouTube vids.

When upgrading on any machine, Macs included, you should use Adobe's uninstaller, found here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html , prior to installing the new version, to ensure a clean upgrade.

I've just updated to beta version 10,1,51,95 (Beta 3) and I no longer have trouble going to full screen or changing the resolution like before. My picture even seems better, although I don't know why that would be.
For windows Firefox browser, I downloaded the active-x and the plug in and like Sclithroe says use the Adobe uninstaller.
