Default European Bakery on 17th Ave

Hey dont know if this was ever discussed, but I like to get my fix of random European treats etc, and just walked by this bakery on 17th Ave called the European Bakery or something like that.. ...Its closed on Sundays but will check it out tomorrow...

Any other interesting shops in Calgary that cater these things?...

I know there is a Russian shop on 17th ave and 14 street...

There's one by the Bernard Callebaut headquarters downtown. You can get really good croissants there.

The Russian Shop is called "Matroishka" - haven't been in there for a number of years, but they did have a fair amount of stuff in there.

Rustic Sourdough Bakery further down 17th Ave (13th ish) has great German baking and quite a bit of German/Polish canned/bottled items.

Gunther's bakery on 17th Ave around 36th St SE has a lot of european style baking, it's pretty good.

There's also Illichmann's, which is on 36th (I think) just off 17th, if you're looking for a European deli. I grew up on their salami's, great stuff.

There's always Manuel Latruwe on First St. SE. One of the best bakeries in town for sure.

Speaking of bakeries does any one know where a person can buy dough? I tried a few bakeries but they only sell it in the cooked form.

The Italian Market over behind the old West Jet building across from Canada Post has fresh dough daily.
