Default Begone woodp.ecker!

We've heard a hammering noise resonate through the house a few times and it turns out we have a woodp.ecker who likes to hammer into our chimney stack. Yep, the little confused bugger it Trying to drill through metal.

Anyone have any experience with getting them to find a different place to smack their head into?

This makes more sense when the "p*cker" part isn't censored haha.

Yep, that was confusing for the first 20 seconds....although I think I might get more traffic if I leave it as "Begone wood!"

There was one that would do it to a metal light standard outside my house when I was growing up. Unfortunately he did it sporadically for years.

No experience with this whatsoever, but I would try putting up a fake owl or some other predator. It can work for pigeons and will probably work for these guys too.

It won't work nearly as well as a real owl. Go catch yourself a great horned owl, and then after your wounds heal enough, tether it to your chimney. You'll need to keep it well fed as your neighbourhood will soon become eerily birdless, so get a population of guinea pigs and a potato cannon, and go out at dusk and shoot a few rounds of them into the sky.

I recommend something similar to Operation Rolling Thunder, just on your house.
