Default PC Speakers and a LCD TV

Quick question that I'm hoping someone would be able to shed some insight on;

I have a pair of Z-2300 speakers that I've been using with my 40" LCD Sony Z Series TV. AFAIK, the speakers are shielded and I have them on the edge of my TV stand, about 1-2 inches from my TV.

I'm wondering, are these perfectly safe to use with a TV? They sure sound good in my bedroom set up, as compared to the onboard TV Speakers.

Someone mentioned that older TV's used to have problems with PC speakers (CRT sets), so it made me a tad worried that a newer tech might have similar problems. I haven't noticed any picture issues, so I'm assuming they are safe; just want someone to put my fears at ease.

I did some research when buying a TV last year, and came up with this:

Magnets can effect a LCD tv, but not nearly as badly as they did the CRT's. Most TV's and speakers are shielded now anyway. The really good news is that LCD's have an auto-degauss feature built into them that will reverse any damage caused by a magnet.

So, the simple answer is...try it and pay attention to the screen. If you see some discoloration, turn off the TV for afew minutes and it will go away.

Sounds good, thanks. I assume I have nothing to worry about; blacks are whites are proper, reds are normal levels, and nothing is distorted from my viewing.

I panicked a bit last night because I noticed a few "white specs" were stuck on my screen while watching Battlestar Galactica on Blu Ray, but it turns out there are some imperfections on the shot (on both HD-DVD and Blu Ray) in a couple scenes. I was terrified I had a few dead pixels

Z2300's are near field speakers, don't think you will be particularly happy with
them in this application. To answere your original question, they were built to
be placed next to your computer monitor, so that won't be a problem.

I actually quite enjoy the sound they emit. This is only a bedroom set up, and they definitely do the job.
