Lubna Ahmed al-Hussein, who writes for the left-wing Al-Sahafa newspaper and works for the media department of the United Nations Mission in Sudan, was arrested in Khartoum earlier this month after being caught wearing trousers.

"They will lash me 40 times, and also fine me 250 Sudanese pounds (100 dollars)."

Well that does it for me! Women wearing trousers? Do they think they are men? Whats this world coming to?

Actually, it's 40. But being lashed 40 times is no joke; she may well be seriously hurt by this.

250 lashes would kill her. 40 lashes along is pretty severe and would cause some definate damage.

We are so damn lucky to live where we live. We complain a lot about police this and religion that... we have it so good here.
