Default Police officer attacks woman in convenience store

http://www.talkleft.com/story/2009/7/21/3242/65516

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/...Caught_On_Tape

The kicker? The police officer was back on-duty 8 days later and the DA refuses to pursue charges.

She's hot. In other news, looks like she was laying it on thick, yelling and gesturing at them. For the full video: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/51196597.html?

Weird way to hold a gun against her neck like that though, as it looked like he was pressing the side of the barrel against her. Definetely could have handled that better. Looks like they try to make the arrest, then realize others are around, back off to gain control of everyone, then after her lipping them off they lose their cool again.

What's wrong with the guy being back on duty after 8 days though?

She probably deserved it. Without having both sides of the story we can only assume that the cop was 100% in the right, and she was 100% in the wrong.

That cop was way out of line. He acted like a roudy college student instead of the cool, calm police officer. What a wuss he looks like pulling a gun on a mouthy bimbo chick. I am convinced that about 1/3 of every police department is made up of ###### bags.

Clearly you're racist and need to be charged with disorderly conduct.

This isn't the the movies, people. Nobody deserves to have a loaded firearm shoved in their neck just because they're talking loudly. I know everyone likes to talk tough about these things... but when reality hits, this is all kinds of wrong.

The fact that it's a police officer, a person who is entrusted with a huge responsibility for that firearm, just makes it worse.

You're joking right? There's nothing to indicate there was even an offense committed, let alone an offense that would require the drawing of a firearm and the placing of it against someone's head.

There's no attempt to make an arrest at any point, this isn't police activity, it's a thug who happens to be wearing a blue shirt. If you're cool with cops who go around menacing people with their authority in order to deal with personal issues I guess his being back on duty makes sense, otherwise I have no idea where you're coming from.

Oh this is awesome, yet another thread about police brutality. I guess it's time for me to find some articles on the good police do again, but the problem there, is that 99.9% of the stuff they do, doesn't make it into the media because it isn't a "sexy" story.

Edit- So am I missing something? 1:10, is that the longest video there is?

That cop shouldn't be out on the streets he shouldn't be a cop anymore, period.

First and foremost I would like to see his logic in pulling a gun and threatening a girl who didn't look like she was armed.

Second he has a lot of explaining to do over asking the store owner to erase the tapes.

This is a problem of training, or even recruiting as this guy acted as bad as any petty criminal.

I don't think you can categorize this as an instance of police brutality. This guy wasn't doing anything in his role as a cop, he was acting like a common street thug who happened to have a gun and badge.

I was pretty much ready to entirely dismiss this story as BS after reading that ridiculously biased blog entry.

The actual, legitimate news stories argue that this individual made a pretty bad mistake.

There is no excuse for the officers actions here! As for the girl freaking out I would too if someone came up behind me for no reason and grabbed me by the neck, pushed me, and had a gun by my neck! Cop or no cop when he started pushing me back like that with a gun in his hand I would have seen that as a threat to my life and I probably would have punched him in the face..repeatedly.

The part I find most interesting is his claim that one of the 3 males with her had made statements about having a gun, that's his justification. Yet when he enters the store he goes after a female, doesn't frisk any of the males, and leaves them unattended repeatedly. So either he should be kicked off the force for being a horrible cop or he should be kicked off the force for being a liar and a thug.

I think the reason people bring these stories up more so than stories where police are doing good is police are supposed to be doing good. Thats what we pay them for. They're not just 'great people who are helping out', they're paid civil servants. Paid to use force in deadly situations, not because someone is being mouthy.

No one is saying all cops are evil, or that they do wrong more than they do right (which seems to be the impression you're getting). It's more we're trying to talk about cases where the paid cop has abused his power granted by society. As members of society, we're allowed to monitor and comment on the conduct of paid employees.

Part of the issue is a lot of people have had personal run-ins with cops that make them out to be ######s. I've been arrested and handcuffed (on the ground) at gunpoint twice in my life, once for being in a warehouse with my friend (warehouse owned by my friends dad, my friend was an employee), and the second time was for shooting at pigeons with a pellet gun (I was taken down by whatever SWAT team Calgary has, and spent the night in jail... still on probation for that, it surprises me the cop couldn't just take the pellet gun away and educate me that that's not allowed... ah well).

Cops aren't always wrong, and they're not always right. I happen to think most of them are supreme power-tripping a-holes, so they'd better being doing the job they get paid to do, otherwise we're going to keep posting these stories. I don't get where the love-in for cops always comes from... as though they're just great people, as opposed to paid employees. Stop paying the cops, and they'll stop protecting you lickety split. It's all about the Benjamins.

Sick. That officer needs to go to jail for a long time. That just pisses me off.

It is a highly appealing job to a ######-bag. If a cop ever wants to talk to you, don't say a word untill you get their badge # and name of the commanding officer. This very effective at un-douching a cop.

Also, the make or break for a lot of cops is your attitude, respect is a two way street.
