Default Chilliwack (WHL) sees Ticket Decline. Say Heat Get Some Of The Blame

http://www.bclocalnews.com/sports/51517337.html

Quote:
The Abbotsford Heat have sucked away 300-plus season ticket holders, but the Bruins woes go well beyond the AHL.

“We anticipated a dip, primarily because of the Heat. But we didn’t think it would be like this,” Porter said. “Over a two-year period, we’re going to be down about 35 to 40 per cent. We knew the team in Abbotsford would hurt us. What we didn’t anticipate was the lack of local response.”

It doesn't help when you are an awful team and the lowest scoring team in the league by a large margin.

No denying the Heat took away some ticket holders though.

I can never feel empathy for a team that has both Brian Burke and Glen Sather in its ownership group.

Start winning and those 300+ will be back.

Yup.

Sucks for Chilliwack, but there are plenty of smaller markets that are getting by just fine. The Bruins need to build a team that doesn't suck.

Chilliwack has terrific fans and a gorgeous building, they just are used to seeing winners in that town after all the success the BCHL Chiefs had.

Great barn though, I will be there at least twice in 09-10 for sure.

Maybe the GEC has something to do with it too? Not easy to drop a couple hundred on season tickets when you don't have a job.

Didn't Burke have a public cry session about the Heat moving in earlier in the summer? Can't wait for round 2 from this blowhard.

I usually just go when the Wranglers are playing but yes you definitely get what you pay for.
