Before the iPhone, I was a Blackberry guy. Had a Curve and loved it, had zero complaints at all. If it wasn't for the iPhone, I'd still be all about the BB.
As for their current offerings, I'm not sure. I've kind of gotten the feeling that there are a few problems with the phones they've come out with to run against the iPhone. If all you're worried about is a safe, reliable phone for the office... I'd look at picking up a Curve. It was about as perfect as you could get for an office mobile.

I'm actually looking at upgrading to a Blackberry this weekend.
I've looked at several smart-phones, and I've decided to go with the Blackberry. HTC and Samsung look cool...but everyone I know that have Blackberry swear by it.
I'm actually waiting for Telus to role out the Tour, and I'll be getting it. It's basically Telus's version of the Rogers Bold. I was looking at the Storm, but after checking some reviews on Youtube (including one that compares the Storm to the Bold) I decided on the Bold (Tour).
I would suggest going to the store and TRYING before you buy. Get the retailer to throw a battery in one, and give it a whirl. If they won't, go somewehere else.
Cheers!
edit: Here is the video links for the Storm vs. Curve (Bold on Rogers).

After watching this review, among others, it convinced me to wait for the Tour on Telus Mobility.

Had an idea!

Another question I have.....
I need to have access to a bunch of passwords and private info on the road. Is there some kind of password program for the blackberry? For an Android powered phone? An app for the Iphone?
That is basically the only thing keeping me from taking the Blackberry. If the Android phones will have apps like a password program/organizer....I would like to wait for it.
Or, if the Iphone already has one....I might go that route.

iPhone has a quite a few apps for that.
mSecure: http://www.msevensoftware.com/msecure.html
1Password Pro: http://agilewebsolutions.com/products/a/1Password (the actual iPhone app itself is $5.99, the $40 price tag on their site is for their Mac desktop client)
Just download iTunes and check out the App Store. You can search or browse, etc, for anything before you make up your mind.

I have a smart phone question as well... I'm losing my work-supplied blackberry and want a personal smart phone as replacement (I'm addicted now after having one for 3 years). So what is my cheapest option for a smart-phone... or are Telus, Rogers, Bell, etc all basically providing the same cost structure? I'm hoping to only sign a 1-year contract.
I'm not toooo worried about the phone model/features. If it's a relatively new model and takes photos, I'll probably be happy. I'm could do iPhone or Blackberry... whichever is cheaper I guess?

I put my Curve through the wash yesterday. So I am really wondering what to do today. I figured the Tour would be available today. But according to this thread the Tour won't be available till Wednesday. I'm pretty stumped. Two days doesn't sound like a long wait. But I need my phone for my job. Maybe I can just lay low.

I'm also in the market for a smartphone. Keep me posted on how your search goes.

Looks like it's coming in at a better price than Bell's.

I have tried the keyboard on a model of the tour a few weeks ago. It's the best one I have tried on any type of cellphone. The little dividers between rows of keys make it easy to type fast, but accurate.
I am tempted!

Ok, now I'm ticked off!
The Tour is on the Telus website and Futureshop website...but it's not in the stores!
I've been to 10 different dealers today...and nobody has it! They all tell me "not yet" or "we're getting it tomorrow" or "we're getting it later today."
BAH! I want my TOUR NOW!

If it is not extremely expensive, I will be getting the Palm Pre. It has a slide-out keyboard, screen nearly as big as the iphone, faster than the iphone and it can have mulitple applications open at the same time. Easy and fun interface, and looks awesome. It is also supposed to be compatible with iTunes.
Rumours say it comes out at the end of the month, but it could be longer.
Its only on Bell though.

edit: nm
I would be concerned with it only syncing with itunes for a short while.

I had one in my hand just before lunch. But the Telus Network is down and they couldn't do the swap for me. I have been waiting patiently by the phone in my office so I can go pick it up. The store I deal with in Red Deer said they got 20 Tours at 10:30am.

If you only want to sign for one year, you will be paying near-full price for the phone. Might be cheaper picking up a used BB (or iPhone) and going month-to-month...the cost structure for voice/data packages for Rogers/Telus was pretty similar a while back(don't know about Bell).
If you decide to sign a contract, check out the cellphone booths at CostCo, they seem to have some really good deals.
Good luck....
