BBC - Science ponders Zombie Attacks
No, it's a real article
Quote:
Professor Robert Smith? (the question mark is part of his surname and not a typographical mistake) and colleagues wrote: "We model a zombie attack using biological assumptions based on popular zombie movies.
"We introduce a basic model for zombie infection and illustrate the outcome with numerical solutions."
On his university web page, the mathematics professor at Ottawa University says the question mark distinguishes him from Robert Smith, lead singer of rock band The Cure.

Just remember kids. In the coming Zombie apocalypse, a sword never runs out of bullets!

I saw this on the BBC site and was going to post, but figured since it was a Canadian study that someone probably already posted it. Clearly they have too much time and/or funding on their hands in Ottawa's universities.

With the ongoing Class 2 zombie outbreak cleverly disguised as the "swine flu" it might be a good idea for academia to figure out exactly what we are up against. Read your zombie survival guide people. It may be your only hope.
The best they could come up with was Mexican pigs?!?! Really?

For those wondering...
Quote:
Yes, the question mark is actually part of my name, at least according to Australian law. I'm originally from there, but recently completed the marathon application process to become a dual citizen of Canada too. To add to the challenge, I did this while living in the US. People kept asking if I'll be getting US citizenship next and I kept laughing at that. Somewhat hysterically, it must be said.
People sometimes ask me why I have a question mark in my name. In fact, somebody does this approximately fifteen times a day. (One day, I'm sure he'll get bored and go away.) If you haven't lived with an incredibly common name, then you have no idea what it's like to be entirely invisible on Google. Not that the question mark actually solves that, but at least it differentiates me from that guy from The Cure. It's been twenty years now and sadly his career shows no sign of drying up.

I had a convo with someone about Zombies, and if to become one, you actually had to die first... or do you just become one at the split second right before you die... or does death have to come into the equation at all...
Some innocent bi-standard of the conversation claimed that Zombies were his biggest fear. That someone would/could come after him and his brains.
I for one do not welcome our Zombie overlords.

Back in univesity, someone in my georgraphic spatial analysis class developed a model of zombie infestation based on zombie movies. It was actually quite good, although mine about zebra mussel infestations was better (but not as entertaining).
