And the father of the year award goes to...
Dad convicted for botched circumcision on son
Quote:
A Vancouver-area man has been convicted of criminal negligence causing bodily harm for a botched amateur circumcision he attempted on his four-year-old son.

Quote:
Court heard he put his son on the floor on some clean garbage bags and towels, with Band-Aids and a veterinary powder used to stop bleeding standing by. The man tried to drug his young son with wine and told him lie still, but he apparently jerked during the procedure, causing the man's hand to slip while cutting the foreskin.
In his judgment posted Thursday, Allan said the man's first experience with home circumcision should have told him it was a serious, risky procedure.
Surgery was required to remove hardened layers of the veterinary blood-stopping material caked on the boy's penis and repair damage from the botched circumcision to prevent permanent disfigurement.

First experience? *shudder*
So CP, Helmet or Toque?

Toque - it is there for a reason.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision#Canada
The Fetus and Newborn Committee of the Canadian Paediatric Society posted "Neonatal circumcision revisited" in 1996 and "Circumcision: Information for Parents" in November 2004.[109] The 1996 position statement says that "circumcision of newborns should not be routinely performed", and the 2004 advice to parents says: "The overall evidence of the benefits and harms of circumcision is so evenly balanced that it does not support recommending circumcision as a routine procedure for newborns."[81]

The boy's father, who subscribes to a religious philosophy that incorporates Hebrew elements, previously tried to circumcise himself and also had to seek medical help.

You're not a man til you circumsize yourself with a switchblade dipped in iodine.

That is horrifying.
I would definitely not have my kid circumcised.

I saw a docuwhatever once about some African tribe where a boy's transfer to manhood when he's ~13 is he is basically circumsized (there was more detail than that but I'll leave it). If the boy so much as flinches it's a huge dishonour to his father and the boy will never be forgiven. Can't recall if they said he'd be killed or kicked out of the tribe but it's possible.

I would rather undergo one snipping that I can't recall than have to undergo the monthly waxing down there that women should do.
*ducks and runs ... *
Point is. Pubic hair is there for some reason, but we rip it out. Asthetics and cleanliness. I also would lazer off any odd growths that may occur (none so far, but you can believe I would) - a little pain is no big deal.
I would also wager that getting squished out of a vagina hurts a hell of a lot more than removing excess skin.
