Default GrandStand Show

My fiancee and I are going tonight and plan on bringing our 8 month old. Is this show too loud for him? Should I not bring him due to the loudness or if we get him earplugs, it should be good enough?

It starts at 8pm, does anyone know what time this ends at?

The chucks start at 8:00pm. The grandstand show doesn't get rolling until 9:30ish. I'd say its over by 11:30?

Haven't been this year, just going off of memory.

I don't remember it being too loud. I mean, obviously the fireworks will be loud, and I'm sure they would scare an 8 month old. Earplugs are probably fine.

I'd say leave the kid at home if possible.

The horn and announcer for the races are loud.
The show itself is loud and goes till about 11:30, and the fireworks are really loud and pretty prolonged.

Plus the seats are pretty small, I can't imagine it would be at all comfortable to have an 8 month old on your lap for 3.5 hours.

Leave the kid at home.

Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a baby at a stadium/arena. Their eardrums are so fragile still, and people can do a lot of damage to their kids by bringing them.

I can't remember the exact numbers, but I was told anything more than about 75-80db is very ill-advised for babies and toddlers.

If you can't find a babysitter or something, get some earmuffs for the little guy.

Was there the other day and it was loud. Everything was loud. The chucks, the horns, the singing, the dirtbikes, the music, the fireworks, the crowd... Leave the kid in a dog crate at home and go enjoy the show.

I will save you some time so you can all have a free evening and give the grandstand show a miss:

There will be a bunch of kids lipsyncing, some forced acting and large dance numbers.

This goes on for a while, there is then usually a homoerotic display of strength, hoop dancing and a really lame comedian, probably Jebb Fink.

If you are sitting further back in the bleachers you wont be able to see the fireworks, which are generally a disappointment anyway.

The grandstand show was way better this year than previous years.

There was a lot less "Hooray for evertying" from the Young Canadians, there was motocross, there was no hoop dancing, the comedian was really funny (sort of a poor mans Russel Peters), and I don't know how anyone can call those fireworks disappointing.

Normally I'd agree that missing the grandstand show isn't a tragedy, but this year I was pretty impressed.

I find the hoop dancing kinda neat. I will admit I haven't seen this years but that is because I was pretty disappointed with the 3 previous years.

Having seen a few 4th of july fireworks displays in the States, I have yet to see anything that comes close to those.

Was it at least shorter this year? I have found previous year to be about 30mins too long. I think there was motocross last year as well if memory serves.

The chucks & grandstand show is not something you sit in the seats for. The only way to experience it is standing on the tarmac and crushing beers with friends. It's like a house party with chuckwagon races and a show in the background.

By far the best thing to do during Stampede.

They're still doing that? The big guy and the little guy doing push ups against each other and getting into strange and erotic positions with each other?

I went to the Grandstand show the last 3 years and they were there each time. Lets change the acts ok Stampede guys?
