This thread is weird timing.
My buddy and I were discussing the differences between MM/DD/YY and DD/MM/YY
I am a MM/DD/YY person, he is the other way and both of us thought they other one was crazy. He works at the Herald and says everyone there uses DD/MM/YY and I calmly mentioned that was the reason the newspaper industry is going out of buisness

I thought DD/MM/YY was the american system, but according to the all knowing wiki, it seems most of the world uses DD/MM/YY. I far prefer MM/DD/YY, because that is how we say it (July 9th, 09).

Weird...just the other day I thought of this, except I was thinking of next month. I was telling a buddy that since August 7th is my birthday, at 12:34:56 07/08/09 something terrible or something wonderful was going to happen to me. That is of course if you list the date before the month, which I believe is the correct way.

I've seen most Americans using MM/DD/YY.
I always do it that way, anyhow.

If time goes HH:MM:SS then dates should go YYYY.MM.DD.
I always use YYYY.MM.DD - probably because I did a bunch of international work and there is never any confusion over the day where 07.06.2009 is July 6 or June 7 depending on your country. I never had anyone question what day 2009.07.06 was.
Edit: I see Kermit is on my team
