The new name will contain two words, one of which is Rogers, as in Ted, owner of the stadium and its main tenants, the Toronto Blue Jays.
But don't expect the new name to include the word SkyDome. Rogers wants to drop that name entirely.
Rogers Dome? Rogers Park? Rogers Stadium? Not alot of room for creativity if they insist on using the name Rogers.
Everyone will still call it the Skydome, no matter what name they pick.

Egomaniac Ted Rogers will have his name all over it...Skydome is a functional and rational name for the place..somewhat like the Saddledome.
But Ted Rogers is retiring soon, so the more stuff he wants to see his name in lights on.
Only reason Cantel changed to Rogers was because Ted wanted his name front and centre.

Well, he did buy Cantel so why wouldn't he have his name front & centre??? As for the SkyDome, I always thought it was a dumb name anyway. What can be worse (for naming stadiums) than the 2 I HATE the most... (the former) 3 Com Park in San Francisco & Winnipeg's own Canad Inns Stadium.
Nothing Ted Rogers does could be worse than those 2 names...

I have no problem with renaming the Skydome, but why the hell would Rogers name it in his own image? There is no revenue to be gained from that.
Find an outside corporate sponsor and add the revenue stream.
Besides, I already refer to Turner Stadium in Atlanta as "Ego Field". I cant call two ballparks the same thing...

Thats terrible. I really don't like this. Many years of tradition are now tainted with this awful name, I'll still call it Skydome.

Sweet!
On the bright side, with that gawd-awful lease now a thing of the past, Rogers has committed $210 million to payroll over the next three years.
Given the team is only at $50 million now, and the free agent season has pretty much passed, that means a lot of pesos for next year and 2007.
