Default Pixar grants girl's dying wish to see 'Up'

After a family friend made frantic calls to Pixar to help grant Colby her dying wish, Pixar came to the rescue.
The company flew an employee with a DVD of Up, which is only in theaters, to the Curtins’ Huntington Beach home on June 10 for a private viewing of the movie.

Good on Pixar.

Edit: Wow, upon reading the article its even cooler. Seeing the moving really was her dying wish, she died like 7 hours after seeing the movie.

Wow, great story (except for the ending of course) but it regains at least some of my faith in humanity.

I worry when the company won't comment. It makes me wonder if a compassionate staffer may get in trouble for doing this. But perhaps Pixar just doesn't want hundreds of sob-stories begging for similar favours, the whole, "No good deed goes unpunished" train of thought.

They don't comment because they don't want people thinking they did the good deed just for the publicity.

Couldnt the family rented out a theater for a private viewing in the morning. I dont know about Calgary but a Red Deer theatre did that for a similar circumstance.

If you read the article

"it became apparent that she would die soon and was too ill to be moved to a theater to see the film."

How hard would it be to be the mother in that situation. To describe the movie to your dying child knowing it will be one of the last things she'll ever experience.

Hopefully Pixar will send the same DVD back to the mother after it's released to the public.
