Default Telus/Shaw support rant

Probably enough of these type of threads, but still its frustrating when it happens.

So christmas this year, our phone and internet went dead (with telus), and we got the telus guy to come around. So a Saturday he says he'll be here between this the times, and those times pass and we phone Telus and ask where the guy is. It turns out the guy said he came by the house and no one was home... but there were at least 2 of us home all day, and there was no note left saying he was here. So another came by the next day and fixed the issue.

So today, we had a SHAW cable guy booked to come between 5 and 8.
We check our messages at 9, and there is one left at 8:20 saying that he was at the door and no one was answering.
Here's the interesting part. We were on the phone at 8:20, and heard no beep for the call waiting, and there is no trace on the caller id for the phone #. So sure, it was our bad finding out the message at 9pm, but there was no reason to suspect we had one.
But at 8:20, guess where we were, we were both at the front door looking out our window, so he was at the wrong house...

And there is another time where we had a time booked for furnace cleaning, and they didnt come, and when we phoned them, they ended up having to move ours to later in the afternoon, which did not work for us, and we spent the morning off work waiting for them..

anyways i know its not the only thread about it, just posting another annoying story.

Haha maybe your place is extra hard to find or your neighbors have accidentally put up the same numbers as yours Happened to a friend of mine, it was pretty funny as it took them a while to figure it out lol.

My parents switched from shaw to telus for some odd reason and the technician from Telus came to install internet and TV. Too bad he had no idea what he was doing and spent over 10 hours at our place. My mom was so mad because she couldn't leave home and had no internet and could not watch tv but she didn't want to be rude and disrespectful. You would think after 2 hours of not being able to set it up that you would call for help or something... nope.

actually for Telus TV a lot of the installs require the tech to re-wire the whole house and often they have to rewire the outside of the house too. They use cat5 connections not coax, so often your not able to use the existing setup. You try doing that in a finished house, not fun. A new house that is pre-wired can be done in ~1.5 hours. 10 hours is long, but more than likely it wasn't that he 'didn't know what he was doing'. Either way he should have called for a hand to speed things up.

On a side note don't buy telus TV it's inferior and will give you a headache. This coming from a former Telus TV tech. Telus sucks.

The new goggles also do nothing.

I had a Telus guy come out to a brand new house for Telus TV and tell a tenant that it would take 4 hours to rewire the house and who was going to pay for that.. the tenant didn't know so let the guy leave.

I went and looked at the connections and the house looked fully wired to me.. CAT5 and coax drops to each room.

The next tech came out and I told him what the other tech said, he looked at the wiring setup and looked at me and asked for the other guys #, he had it done in less than an hour, and a lot of that was waiting on the phone to activate the boxes.

Not sure if he was trying to rip off the tenant or just really overestimated what needed to be done, but he saw how the house was wired just as much as I had.

EDIT: The hardest part was the CAT5e drops, neither the Telus guy or I could decipher the writing on them to determine what room they were in. Apparently I'm not familiar with the Cyrillic alphabet.

If I remember correctly, the best person to ask is FireFly as she works with Telus.

But from what I remember I believe it's $20 for every month remaining or a max of $200 or something like that.
