Default Parliament Sessions comes to a close...

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/653799

It's nice to see that for once everyone can sit down together and get some work done...too bad that one of the only reasons there isn't any bickering is because there's a ceasefire between the tories and the grits.

Tough session for the conservatives in terms of the Isotope issues, the economy and other issues, but they have the summer to recover.

Harper basically has to decide whether he wants to fight an election in the fall, or not. He basically rolled one over on Iggy with the UI agreement. But expect Harper to position the Liberals as the villians for killing the Government at the end of Sept.

I don't think Canadians will be in any more of a mood for an election in September, than they are in now.

As long as the polls show a likely minority result, look for both parties to hold off as long as possible.

I think this whole "negotiating" thing is wearing very, very thin. They "negotiated" on the budget, they "negotiated" on the financial report....

I said here a month ago there would be no summer election because (a) the Liberals just got out of one debt and need to load their coffers up else go back into debt next election, (b) the Conservatives will continue to slide in the polls as the economy isn't going to come back overnight and (c) the Liberals didn't want to look like the bad guys by voting down the government right before summer.

The "negotiating" is just posturing and I'd rather Ignatief be honest like the way Cadman was and say "as much as I disagree with the motion, Canadians just don't want an election right now".

WTF do they end parliamentary sessions? Exactly how much vacation do these guys get a year? We all know they don't spend this time 'going home to their ridings and listening to people'.

Actually, they do.

An the people they have to listen to are not always the most rational or lucid either.
