Default Disney World vs Universal Studio

So I am off to Orlando at the end of july but I am staying in Orlando for only 1 day, the rest I will be in Tallahassee. I cant decide if I should go to Universal or Disney World. I dont know too many people that have been to ethier so I decided to ask CP. I am not a big ride guy and ive heard Universal is more adult oriented but the factor of "I have been to Disney World" plays into it as well.

Where should I go?

Go to Seaworld instead.

I dunno. They're both good, but the thing I enjoyed about Universal the most is the rides, so if you don't like roller coasters, maybe you're better off with Disney.

Of course, then you have to decide which one of the 5 Disney theme parks you want to go to... personally I liked Animal Kingdom, but most people I talked to preferred something else. MGM seems to be the popular choice, but again, that's because of the roller coaster there.

Well Disneyworld itself is quite large it consists of the magic kingdom, animal safari, epcot and hollywood studios. On top of that the downtown disney area of WDW is quite a bit larger then that of Disneylands.

If you're only going for one day and you aren't bringing kids with you, I'd suggest Universal Studios. Both are good, but you can see most of Universal in one day whereas exploring the different parks at Disney World would take you the better part of a week.

Busch Gardens in Tampa unless you have kids, then go to Disney World. Epco Centre was just OK.

Or drive down to the Kennedy Space Centre. Very cool.

I havent been to Universal Studio Florida so I cannot comment.

I cannot say for Universal as I have not been there, but from what I have heard if you are not a ride guy that is may not be the place.

As for WDW, the one thing that you have to think of is that it is actually four diffrent "Worlds".
Animal Kingdom - nice but considered to be the weakest
Epcot - Very cool from what I thought. They have a couple really nice rides in Soarin' which is a virtual hang gliding experience and Test Track where you ride a test car around a track at very high speeds. Around the lagoon they have diffrent countries from around the world, Mexico, Canada, France etc and you can walk around them and do things related to that country, drinking in Germany is a must.
Disney Hollywood Studios - Probably the most exciting one. Here it is more movie based as they have things like Indiana Jones, Star Wars and other movie related areas. Very fun.
Magic Kingdom - This is the one to go to if you want the best Disney experience. This is the money land so they put the biggest and best stuff in here. Obviously the biggest is Cinderellas castle but there is more characters here and more rides and shows.

Overall if it was me I would go to Hollywood, just my opinion but if you want the "Disney Experience" go to Magic Kingdom.

I went 2 years ago and I have become a big fan of Disney because of that trip. If you have more questions just ask.

if you like roller coasters - universal
I'm a huge Disney freak, so my choice would be obvious, but Universal Islands of Adventure has the Hulk roller coaster - and its quite good.

Universal is mostly about the rides... which for me was awesome but probably not for a guy that doesn't like rides.

I would do Disney World if I were you as their rides (for the most part) aren't really extreme rides, more about the experience rather than making you puke. Only downfall about going to Disney is (as many have already stated) it is absolutely huge and one day just won't do it justice.

I'd skip Tallahassee and just do all of the stuff in Orlando.

Just make sure you get pizza from Momo's while in Tallahassee. It is on Tennessee Street.

If you're really not into rides, I suggest Disney. If you are looking for some clubs/bars at night, Universal is the place to be. Let me know if you need more info- I went to college in Tallahassee, grew up in Orlando and live in Tampa.

Disney is for kids, Universal is for teens and adults IMO. Disney would only have around 3 awesome grown up (for lack of a better word) rides that are fast and fun per park. Universal had wicked roller coasters, 3D rides, Jurassic Park, Twin Dragons, the HULK... man it was so tight.

We went to Universal on our last day after about 3 Disney parks, and it was exactly what I was waiting for the whole trip.

Yea I will be staying with a friend that goes to FSU. I heard about a place called Moe's as well, I was told to check that out.

They're actually right next to one another on Tennessee Street. Momo's is definitely a Tallahassee thing. Moe's is a chain here in the US, not sure if they have those in Canada? Either way, they're both pretty good. Although Momo's a little more distinct because the slices are outrageously large.

Too bad you aren't hitting it during college football season- it's a lot of fun, even though the team isn't particularly good right now.

If you have already been to Disney, maybe you should check out Universal. Islands of Adventure is the real big "ride" park, Universal Studios you should have a good time with.

Seaworld gives you free beer at the back. It's Bud and its supposed to only be two per day per person, but there is ways around that.

I have only been to Disneyworld, not Universal in Orlando. But I enjoyed disney

If you decide to do Universal you would have to choose between Universal proper and Islands of Adventure. Both take about a day to go through (if you want to see everything).
