Higgins coach for the year and head of football operations, Creehan "associate" coach, will be coach next season, Jim Barker the GM.
Ted Hellard President....the sweet plum has been revealed why this guy got on board with his cheque book.
Interesting.

Ted Hellard is "Interim" President...and they're grooming Higgins to eventually be President.
Darrell Moir is VP Marketing and Operations too.

I am happy to see Barker back in the fold.
It sucked to see him go in the first place.
The new owners of the Calgary Stampeders named Tom Higgins head coach and senior vice-president of football operations Friday but made it clear returning the team to glory will likely get him a promotion.
Looks like Higgins will step in as Pres if he can get the job done
The TSN article says that Barker is GM. So can he fire Higgins? Because Higgins is also Vice President wich is higher than GM.

Happy to see Barker back with this team I feel alot better going into next season at least unlike last year, when Matt became GM/coach I knew the team was in dire straits.

That's a good question. I'm happy with the people they've brought in - particularly Barker who I think will do very well in this role. But I don't have a good idea of the structure.
Give me an org chart!

Being the geek that I am, I got up and went to the Press Conference today (a write up can be found here: Link)
They presented an org chart, and here is my crude, MS Paint version of it. Hey, you asked for it.

*Darrell Moir should read Senior VP Marketing and Operations, not just VP.

I have heard from an interview with Higgins he wants to give up the coaching reigns after the 2005 season, and yes Creehan would be the replacement.

The fans in Edmonton are calling Higgins a second rate coach that didn't prove anything. His record is pretty good and he did win a Grey cup and went to the finals twice and won coach of the year. I really don't think that he's second rate.

That's a plan I definitely can support. If Higgins was given the head coaching job outright, I'm not sure I could but now I'm considering getting some season tickets.

It's typical Edmonton fans trying to rationalize/bring Calgary down. They have an unproven HC this season. I'll take a HC with a Grey Cup ring any day.

Great moves by the new ownership. Barker is already scouting talent in the States.

Some names have come forward as rumoured candidates to be OC. Notably, unemployed former Stamps HC and most recently Lions OC Steve Burratto (also covetted by other teams right now too), and Kent Austin (current OC with the Argos)
rumours of course, but interesting none-the-less

Typical Edmonton eh?
Eskimo fans have been calling for Higgins to be fired for years.
The Eskimos won the GC because of talent, not coaching. Players called him out in public (i.e Ed Hervey, Singor Mobley).
His decisions were baffling (fake punt, inside the 40, shifting all the momentum to the Riders in this years WSF).
Who can forget him taking ordering Ricky Ray to take a knee with a minute left, with the ball on the Winnpeg 6 yard line...in the 2002 Western final. Almost cost us the division championship.
Higgins is a terrible coach....come back in 6 months, and tell me I was right.

The players didn't execute. IIRC, the play worked to perfection - the receiver simply dropped a very catchable ball. If the play works, Higgins is a genious. If it fails, he's a moron. That's just the way football goes sometimes.

I'm going to stand by what I say. The fact is clear, Higgins is the right man for the job to get the team on track. Is he a gambler? You bet - if it works out, he's a genius. If the players don't execute, he gets run out of town. I think we can all agree that Higgins is a definate upgrade over Dunigan too, no? As well, I think you're a tad naive to think that coaching wasn't even a part of winning the GC - again, trying to rationalize things.
As well, it's going to be another rebuilding year IMO here, and having a guy like Higgins as VP of Football Operations/Barker as GM will be great for bringing in quality players. As well, with respect to Higgins coaching abilities, he's only around for one year as HC until Creehan takes over next year - a guy who is an outstanding coach.
Question for ya, when I come back in 6 months, I'll have one game to base my opinion of Higgin's coaching abilities of the Stamps. Is that really fair? And what if he won that game?

I would say that Montreal had a lot of talent, if not more, that year as well. The teams were evenly matched so it is safe to say that choices that Higgins made helped the team to win the Grey Cup that year and it wasn;t solely talent that won or Montreal would have won again.
