Try and google the towing capacity for the vans from those years. They will likely have the same fwd transmission as the cars with the 3.3L

I'd be surprised if you could safely tow much more than 2,000# with it.

I had an '89 back in the day, and it had a lot of trouble pulling one of those little uhaul trailers (6' x 8' ?) from Lethbridge to Red Deer, so no major hills or anything, but the thing never ran the same after pulling it.

I'd be impressed if a 1990 Dynasty could tow itself plus a driver/passengers up a mountain pass let alone haul any cargo!

Thanks guys I just want to tow a tent trailer likely less than 1800lbs. The thing is actually quite powerful. I'm not concerned with wear and tear on the vehicle so much as just ensuring the whole thing doesn't snap apart...

Make sure it has a decent transmission cooler installed in it, otherwise she will not last long...

My buddy had a dynasty with 3.3L in high school and that thing went like a bat out of hell for some reason.

IIRC the transaxle in those things is pretty fragile and is probably the weak point - good advice above RE: the transmission cooler.

Also watch the weight of your tent trailer. They are actually a lot heavier than the sticker on them would have you believe as that doesn't include any of your gear, water, propane or even air in the tires! If you are towing an "1800 lb" trailer, in the real world it is probably more like 2400 lbs. I think this idea is doomed to fail and if it does please post some pics so we can make witty Internet posters poking fun at you.

I used to have a 91 or 90 Dynasty. The tranny went on it 3 times. I'd be real careful about towing with a Nasty.

I've actually towed a few heavy loads with it no problem, but mostly in town sort of stuff. My goal is to tow a tent trailer from here to red deer 4 times a year. (all flat road, minimal shifting). This is the sole purpose of the vehicle, i'll do no other driving with it.
Re: 3.3 in school. This thing use to beat 'suped up sports cars all the time, it's powerful.

I'd like to see some specs on this car to backup the Ferrari-killing claims. Anybody feel like googling its hp, torque, 0-60, 1/4 mile?
