Question U of C: 300 level courses with no prerequisite?

OK, I am trying to fill out my schedule. Could someone provide me with a link for the U of C page that shows all the 300 level courses without prerequisites across different faculties? I can't seem to find it.

I took that ancient technology course, it was pretty cool.

You know that list is just humanities right? If you can hit other faculties try to get into one of the music appreciation courses at some point before you leave. I took history of the Rolling Stones, by far the best course in the history of school.

^^^I'm taking a Jazz History course in the Fall. I really want to take a class I can both learn a lot and enjoy.

And I wasn't clear at all in my earlier post. I was thinking of the Humanities list.

2 courses that are easy A's and relatively easy are:

1. Biology 307? I think... its a saturday class about ecology but if you go to 4/8 lectures and do a short book report its an easy A

2. Music History 3_ _ - Brad Mahan (sp) makes this class super interesting and you literally can not do worse than an A-

Those are my 2 suggestions...

I just finished registering. It is going to be an interesting Summer, Fall and then Winter. In less than 1 year from today I should have a University degree. Scary.

Scary? Wait til you're a year and a half removed from a university degree, and are poorer and have fewer career advancement opportunities than you did when you were IN school!!

Or do you mean that it's scary that they'd actually give someone like you a degree?

Because I've heard that said about me, too.

A little bit of both actually. Scary also that I'm going to have to be an adult.

I didn't check the link so don't quote me on it, but I took a couple of 300-level Film courses a few years back that I am pretty sure had no pre-req - easy courses, too. 'History of Popular Cinema' was one, I believe... if you're even remotely into movies/film I highly recommend looking into it (even if not, you can BS your way to an A without issue).

If you can, take GOPH 375. Its a natural disaster course, so basically you go to class to watch volcanoes explode, earthquakes ravage cities, and hurricanes take out islands.

Plus it's stupidly easy. One of the questions on my midterm was "What was the name of the Hurricane that struck New Orleans in 2005"...

I took Dracula in film a few years back, I really enjoyed it despite having no idea/interest in cinematography etc. going in. I found that the key was to make sure the professor knew that I was a total idiot when it came to the film production stuff, he wound up grading me really lax on those issues and let me focus on story side things.

Man, the more I think about the courses I took the more I can't believe they gave me a degree. Dracula, Rolling Stones, Ancient Technology, and those are some of the more academic courses.

Considering it. I fear it could be a disaster though!

Nah, that's just a myth. You don't have to do anything.

I heard GLGY 301 is easy as well....a midterm and a group project, no final, and lectures pretty much end after the midterm.

Also with reference to the GOPH 375, i took that course, yes it can be stupidly easy, depending on your prof....many friends of mine that took the same course that i did with hildebrand (sp?) had a bigger workload then i did....but i do not remember who the prof was when i took the course sorry just stay away from hildebrand(sp?)

English 393 Speculative Fic I:Science Fiction
English 395 Speculative Fiction II:Fantasy

393 is a Saturday class, once a week. I am currently enrolled in it. Couple papers and a few books to read. Can't be that bad, even if it is an english course.

Oooh - good call! I took both of those. The professor I had for 393 (II) was awesome - this old hippie dude with a bushy smoke-stained beard and a Star Trek fetish. And there was this serious keener in the class that would consume every lecture debating the finer points of military history versus sci-fi with the poor professor - who had to try and look competent even though really, who would ever link sci-fi and military history? Anyway... took the pressure off worrying (moreso) about paying attention since the crux of the course became almost totally tangental.

Regarding the film courses - yeah, some serious academia involved there. I took the Sopranos course and managed to get an A having only watched the pilot episode, even though we were supposed to watch at least the entirety of season one (I guess this maybe belongs in the confession thread, and I share this information knowing the risk I take of offending CP's hardened Sopranos fanbase).
