I read on a few forums that it's somewhere in around 50 to finish, 2 if you get frustrated easily and infinity if you are insane (apparently there are New Game+, New Game++ and New Game+++ options).

Is this at a $69.99 price point around these parts? I checked Futureshop online yesterday and they didn't have any stock. The reviews I've read/watched say this game is great, aside from the difficulty, but that doesn't take anything away. I wish there was a demo for it.

Best Buy Canada has it at $69.99, and their website says that it is in stock in at least one of the stores in Calgary.

I picked it up yesterday and put a couple hours on it. Very cool and quite difficult. I hate that damned red eye knight and his spear of death.
I have heard rumbling on some videogame forums that Atlus only did 1 print of the game for NA. Get it while (if) you can because this is likely to be another rare Atlus game very shortly.

If you can't find the North American version you could probably just import the Chinese version. The Chinese version apparently has English subtitles, menus and an instruction sheet. Apparently the voice overs for every version are also in English.

I haven't got mine yet. Pre-ordered and it hasn't arrived yet.
Is there a major difference in the classes? It seemed to me to be just starting attributes and equipment.

I'm still trying to figure that out. I went with a thief first, tried a mage second... It does seem like it's all about starting gear/stats so far. Mage had some spells (obviously).
I just finished class, did an hour at the gym, then raced home to...
...find a message on my voicemail asking me to come into work at 2. ><

Classes are all about starting gear and stats, that's all. I went with the Royal class because they get a fairly powerful spell right off the start and a ring that regenerates mana. I heard how difficult this game is supposed to be and figured I might as well make it just a little easier on myself, at least on my first run through.

Thanks for this.
I was planning on waiting a few weeks/months to pick up Demon Souls because of plethora of quality games coming out for the PS3 this month (Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, Rachet and Clank), but I'll definitely pick up Demon's Souls tonight or tomorrow just so I have the opportunity to find it (even if it sits on the shelf for awhile).

I tend to buy Atlus published games right off the bat as a general rule. They have a tendency to run dry pretty quickly.
And so this post isn't completely useless, here are links to two of the wikis I have found on the game. First one is the official wiki, the second one is based off of imports so is probably a bit more fleshed out.

i bought it but am waiting for my import to arrive from the US... Australia is an annoying place to live sometimes... having to import games is one of the reasons.

I am incredibly on the fence on buying this. I get frustrated but as long as this isn't a mash your brain repetitive fest I may enjoy it. Wish it had a demo ><
What games would play similar to this that I may have tried in the past?
Don't wanna waste 70$

This game was a pain in the ass to find. They have some copies at Best Buy at Sunridge but they are in the back for some reason and no one knows about it but the manager. They had one left after I was done with my copy. Get it while it's hot!!

I've on the fence about this one too. I'm not a huge RPG fan, but this one looks really good.
I couldn't get into Fallout 3, so I'm wondering if I would be able to get into this one.
Is the experience similar to Fallout 3?

I will preface this by saying I haven't played it yet but from what I understand it should be nothing like Fallout 3.
There is not much story, the combat is a matter of patience, timing, reflexes and experience. The progression is supposed to be more along the lines of making your way through each area killing things, getting loot and avoiding traps.

I think it's more like a diablo hack and slash japanese style. It has multiplayer too? Like you can play co-op with 3 people at a time?
