Yes, Gambit is in it, being played by Taylor Kitsch(Friday Night Lights). Ryan Reynolds is playing Deadpool.

Wolverine. The most overrated comic book character ever. He can't touch Lobo.

After the freaking car wreck that was the last X-Man film, I'm not holding out high hopes for this one. Beyond wussyfying Wolverine, killing off characters left right and center for no reason they have the lame build up to a sequel at the end.
Crap it was worse then Spiderman 3, and that was a horrifying pile of 3 day old baby poo.

Forgive my ignorance as I am not a comic book aficionado by any means but in the original X-Men movie they do like a mini-Wolverine-prologue that takes place in Alberta; for accuracy/consistency this movie should also take place - at least in part - there as well? (In fact in one scene in that trailer the background looked rather mountainous)
I keep hoping for a Magneto spin-off (one was discussed as I recall but still nothing official) - loved Ian McKellan in that role and wished there was more of him in the 3 existing movies.

Yes. Wolverine was part of Alpha Flight, which is Canada's Marvel Super Hero team. With members such as: Guardian, Sasquatch, Vindicator, Marinna, Shaman, Snowbird.. etc.. and yes, of course, Puck. Who does say Eh in the comics. So if they are making an Origins movie, it should involve Canada in at least some way if they want to stay somewhat accurate. But we all know how popular that would be with the states, so I doubt we get more than a mention.
They still plan to do Magneto, every comic book site I read talks about it every now and then, I think it has been shelfed until after The Hobbit though, so don't expect anything sooner than 2012.

A Film that takes place entirely within Canada, starring a character that is Canadian, who's origin is in Canada, who's first appearance in the Marvel Universe happens in Canada, is being filmed entirely in Australia.
There was a frickin' Bella Coola Film Unit in Hulk fer cryin' out loud!

I think they are waiting for Ian McKellan to die off so they can re-cast a younger Magneto.
Then all their stars should be young enough to do an Avengers movie, after Thor comes out.

They have already decided to do an Avengers movie, Ironman and The Hulk are obviously already cast. Captain America and Thor movies will be coming out in the next few years, I believe Avengers is set for 2012.
But what does Magneto have to do with the Avengers?

Theres no way this movie couldn't take place in alberta, according to the comics origins story, he arrives in alberta as a young man, spends a few years living peacefully while hiding his animal side and then a bunch of crazy bizness goes down and he decides to go live with the wolves for a while. He then shows up a few decades later in the Weapon X program, I don't think he ever left Canada untill he become an international man of espionage.
I worked out the years and Wolverine is about 100-120 years old.
i find Reynolds schtick to be pretty one-dimensional, however, said schtick is perfect for deadpool.
