Default My trip to South Dakota. Plenty of Photos

So I went to South Dakota, My Fiance's sister got married and I got drug along with her.
I live in Muscatine, Iowa now that is right on the mississippi river and well Rapid City is on the western part of the state.
We left town Thursday the 18th around 4pm our time. The ole lady has a hard time being ready to do anything on time but we got on the road. I had a couple of routes planned so we went up through Cedar Falls, Iowa into Minnasota since I haven't been to Minnasota for other than a hockey tourney so I actually wanted to see some of the state. That part of the trip wasn't bad at all, You get up north of CF and see all of the wind farms, That is a pretty cool site although kinda boring. We got into Sioux Falls, South Dakota around 10:30 and decided to get a room because we didn't want to pull up to her sisters house around 4 am.
The next thing I did was pull out the Blackberry and got my GPS going and looked for a hotel and found one that was about 6 miles from I-90. We pull up to the hotel and I walked in and asked the attendant how much were rooms. She replied $90. I looked at her with amazement thinking that she thought I was going to pay that amount for a room.
I asked her what discounts do the have and she replied the normal "AAA, Veterans, AARP" and I looked at her and said I dont look like I have any of those. Then I asked her how many rooms they had left and she told me one.
So here comes the priceline negotiator...
Every hotel has a thing called ADR ( Average daily rate) They could sell the rooms at what ever price as long as its above said ADR rate. Well knowing that I asked her what her ADR was at. She replied $85, I asked what does it have to be. She replied $65. I said well its getting pretty late I doubt that your going to have many walk-in's coming for a room. so I negotiated lower and lower and got the room for $55+tax. As soon as she gave me the room keys and I walked out to the car and walked back in a van pulled up and it was a walk-in for a room and she had to tell them that she just sold the last room. HAHAHA. I got to stay at a nice 3 star room with a million channels free WiFi and breakfast hot tub in the room, and Fridge in down town Sioux Falls.
Now back to travel We get back on the road and getting great MPG in Iowa and Minn (38 MPG on a 02 civix ex auto) until we got to South Dakota. We filled up in Sioux Falls and left around 11 A.M. and I have never seen wind like that other than Hurricaines in Florida. I'm talking 50 MPH strait winds going to the side of my car. I mean there were little ponds that had white caps on them. Our MPG went from 38 to 25 ughhhh...
It was the most boring thing I have ever seen. Nothing but Wall Drug signs every 2 seconds and empty land and cows.
Once we got to the badlands and that poor little Honda almost didn't have enough power to make it up those little mountians hahaha.
some very very pretty things to see out there. I went to Black Hills, Black Hills forrest, Mount Rushmore (very cool and I got to see two wile mountian goats on the trail by the mountian) Went to Deadwood were wild bill was shot in the back while playing poker. This place called reptile Gardens were I saw a dude get bit by a snake in the foot. The same guy was wrestling gators later. ( why is there a reptile place in South Dakota anyways?)
then I went to the air force base thats were the ole ladys new brother in law works and they have a bad ass museum there. The base itself is a bomber wing (b-2 bombers) and then pretty much sat around until this last saturday. That place is soooooooo boring. Great place to visit and sight see but I would never want to live there and that sad coming from a person that lives in Iowa.
We went to the bars with her sister and brother-in-law (I didn't drink I was the DD) but got my taste of the car scene.... WTF kind of scene is that? VW's with fart cans just really nothing much. Had some ###### chick in her sunflower try to race me in my honda at a stop light. I revved the engine and as the light turned green she sorta peeled out and went and I just putted.
but enough of my story. here are some photos.
Here is a casino that are all over the place there I thought it was funny

Black Hills Forrest were her sister got married. Some of these pics were while I was driving. Hell they still had snow on the ground.

said snow

Me and the Fiance in front of the waterfall that her sister was married.

I didn't upload the pics on an album like a idiot. sorry.
But I did get the rushmore pics on an album with the museum too.

The kid with the green hair is Katies Nephew.
I kinda went along because of a few things
1. Car went to the body shop
2. I wouldn't have a car while in body shop
3. I kinda wanted to go up there to see some things
Her sister wedding was kinda cool but I'm not an overly religious person but I had to go to the local Luthern church because I felt like god was going to strike me with lighting because they are wickens or how ever you spell it. I felt so uncomfortable during the wedding.
but enjoy my post

Love the negotiation bit. Gotta question why you'd ridicule us Calgarians with pictures of snow.
