Do you own a license key for the game, or do you own a license to play it via steam, example does Steam give you a CD code?
I only ask because in the past the prices between the brick mortar stores and steam were enough to get me to go wtih Brick and Mortar. But the game I want now is not sold at amazon, so I would have to drive to Best Buy or Futureshop and the price is 60% more there than on steam.
Thanks.

You can play the offline component of the game if your internet is down. If Steam is down, I don't believe you can access it from the Steam Menu (very rare), but I'm sure you could just find the .exe file on your computer and load it from there.
Steam gives you a CD key, it is tied to your game. I have never had to enter the CD key of a game I purchased to play it though; only when registering online. Also, steam keeps all of your games patched for you.
Steam is great, I'd much rather buy a game off of Steam, save money and just go digital.
