Default buying a wii

ok, so if i am going to buy a wii, how should i go about it?

do all the retailers carry the same base units or do some have more pieces for the $279.99 that they all seem to charge.

what else are must have's for a start up?

all you need is the basic system to get started. they are all pretty much the same price where ever you go.

box will include: one controller (wii-mote), one nunchuck, system, cables, and Wii Sports game.

if you want to play against someone, you will need an extra controller and nunchuck. i recommend that you get Wii-Play game, as it includes a controller (you will need to get another nunchuck).

both Wii sports (included) and Wii Play are great 'intro' games to the system and 'teach' you how to use the new sysytem.

Super Mario Galaxy is probably the best game for the Wii. Also try Wii-Fit and Mario Kart. Any "Wii" title is usually good. most other games are just ported over from "traditional joystick" systems and are best played on those systems

hope that helps

best advice i can give with a wii...get rechargable AA batteries (they last forever)
if you like party games, the rayman games are great fun
the force unleashed is great fun (using the wiimote like a lightsaber) but is short, so that is a good game to rent

Register it online with Nintendo, and you can extend the warranty from 1 yr to 1yr and 3 months.

Also, Walmart seemed to have the cheapest price when I bought.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

HMV Market Mall has them in right now.

Punch Out and Pinball Hall of Fame are being played a lot at my house.

What sorts of games are you looking for? IMO, the absolute must-haves on the Wii (as a primarily single-player gamer) are:

Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Wii
Punch-Out
Tiger Woods 10 (with Motion+)

If you get Wii Fit, Shaun White: Road Trip (snowboarding game) is a good pick-up too.

+1 on Super Mario Galaxy

Lego Star Wars is a Lot of fun, and Mario Kart is as well.

You can actually get some rechargeable battery packs for the remotes. They plug right into the battery slot and have a charging station, etc. to go with them. We have the Nyko Wii Charger (pictured below, you can get it all over the place. We actually found ours at Costco), and it works great.
