Those white STL Vans
I was 'cut off' by a van the other day. I was merging, and the van merging behind me tried to speed past me and merge in front of me. I drive a 'rather' quick Subaru Impreza. This was a typical bad Calgary driver trying to merge in the wrong order. I honked at the car indicating I was not going to move over and the driver (some lady) gave me the finger. She eventually slowed down, merged behind me and proceeded to use more hand gestures.
We were now on a single lane road and the van burned down the shoulder of the road past me (gave me the finger as she passed) and eventually made a right turn. I got the number on the van.
The strange part is, it was one of those vans with red letters with STL or STR or something on it. There are lots on the road, but I cannot figure out who they are. How do I report this van? The font is almost like a flame or paint brush lettering, red on the white van.
I have zero tolerance for bad drivers, but especially people being paid while driving poorly. They can easily kill people. At least in those circumstances I can easily call the company and escalate the complaint. This time I have no idea who to call.
Any help CPers?

Isn't there a CPS number that you can report those things? I thought if there were enough people that called in to report someones bad driving behaviours, the cops would go give them a warning.

Give who a warning though?
The only thing I can think of is those white Telus contractor vans. They say something on the side, not sure what the letters are though.

People don't seem to realize how stupidly dangerous this is. Especially when you are in a situation where there are several cars in front, and at the front of them all is some granny who is incapable of merging, then some guy from the back of the merge tries to blow past everyone and merge first. If two people in the merge line try this at the same time, something nasty is going to happen.
Also, when there are several cars in a row signalling to make a lane change, the car at the front has the right of way. In a situation where there is an obstruction coming up on the roadway, it always seems like it is the person at the back who makes the lane change first.

Jedi, it is incredibly dumb as you say. It seems to be totally pointless, and where do they learn to do that? In this case, I was stuck in the same traffic as she was. She was only gaining one car length.
Does anyone know who these vans are?

It was me- I accidentally got some white paint all over my van recently and figured that if I drove fast enough, all the white would come off, revealing the beautiful red underneath!

No, not DHL. This was white with three red 'streaky' letters. Hard to read, if you ask me.

17th Ave out from the city to Chestermere is a complete gong show for this stuff now.
At 84th going westbound, it splits into 2 lanes before the intersection, and then merges back into 1 after. Brilliant. So people all go into the right lane to pass everyone, and then have to merge back in.
And the REAL good use for it, to get around slow trucks, is futile because the trucks all stay in the left lane.
Then further up, they do the same thing.. except they painted left turn arrow on the road but then erased it (or it wore off), and there's no other signs, so no one knows if they're supposed to go in the right lane to go through (which the lines seem to indicate) or stay in the left lane (which used to be indicated, but the signage isn't clear enough).
Either way, it creates this exact kind of speed up to merge a few cars ahead kind of situation, except people are passing on the right too..
Terrible.

We play hockey out in Chestemere a lot, and I know the exact intersection you're talking about. I think it wore off, and it's annoying as hell because people in both lanes look at the drivers in the other lane like their ######ed.
Personally, I was used to the left turning mark on the road, so I go to the right lane. But it really doesn't matter who goes to which lane for what reason, as whenever there's lots of traffic, half the people go to the left and half the people go to the right, and the people in the left lane all look to the right and go "bunch of idiots, think they can go in the wrong lane and get ahead of me"...and the people in right lane look over and go "bunch of idiots, think they can use the turning lane to get ahead of me".
