B.C. Liberals win provincial election
For those who care. Campbell gets a majority.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/bcvotes2009...ain-story.html
Also, BC has voted against STV, a form or proportional representation.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/bcvotes2009...ction-stv.html
Glad to see the NDP is still going to have a minor role in running things, limiting the amount of damage they can do. Campbell has also said he'll invest in a sewage treatment plant for Victoria which is long overdue.
STV was a tough one. I'm someone who's in favour of proportional representation, but the single-transferable vote idea would've been a disaster. Anything that relies that much on the average person not being a complete moron is designed to fail.

How many times will STV be rejected before the powers that be look towards another form of PR?
And I don't know about being glad at the NDP having a minor role in running things. That party should have NO role in running anything.

Well unfortunately the hippies still get to vote out here.
Agreed on STV. It's a blow to the PR movement when they keep trying to prop this idea. Other countries have tried it and done away with it because it's bureaucratic mess and Joe Sixpack is usually too ######ed to mark the ballot properly. I think most people like the idea of PR but there needs to be a feasible idea that works for the more politically-minded as well as the casual voter.

Big mistake by BC voters. Almost sad.
BC really needs a centrist party.

BC really does need a centrist party. The Liberals are way too far right, and the NDP is the NDP.
I vote NDP because I can't stomach voting for that POS Campbell. Unfortunately my riding's (Liberal) MLA has been in office 13 years, and there's no getting her out.
Disappointing results overall.

You'd rather have the NDP in charge? The same party that ran B.C. into the ground a decade ago?
EDIT: I agree with the second part of your post.

And the NDP would be better? The bottom line is that Carol James is not the right person for the job and the majority of British Columbians know it. For me though, I don't think I'll ever forget how horrible the NDP were last time they were in charge. In tough economic times like these, an NDP government is the last thing we need.
This election was won in the Fraser Valley; almost a clean sweep.

James didn't do herself any favours by going against Campbell's carbon tax. She alienated a huge chunk of her own supporters.

Campbell also stole a lot of votes from the Green party.

I love how all we're going to hear from the Dipper supporters is how the Green Party split the vote and stole the election from them. They don't seem to understand that the Greens have a lot of supporters that support them for some of their right-wing economic policies and not their enviornmental policies.

BC already has a "centrist" party. It's called the BC Liberals. How anyone could call a party that was one of the first to implement a Carbon Tax could be called right-of-centre is beyond me.

I'd take Drunk boy Campell over Farmer Ed any day. That's about the extent of the insight I can offer.

Right Wing =/= religious.
They're fiscal conservatives. You know, the original type. Not the Neocons. My problems are the things they decide to slash, and then sell off.

I honestly would support legalized prostitution but that's an entirely different debate.

Having lived in BC during the dark times of the NDP, I am glad to see that they didn't get back in.

i agree. legalizing prostitution and drugs only make sense when you get right down to it. I was not aware that that was something the green party supported.
