Congrats to the Sharks on a good season after winning it all last year.

Congrats to the Oilers on advancing to the conference finals. Luongo has been dynamite in goal for Syl.

Hawks-Ducks has been a great series so far.

Congrats Syl

Seems like the guys I made deadline deals with (Oilers - Straka, Buffalo - Grier) are going far. So note to all GMs... trade with me and you will have success :P

Hawks push Ducks to the brink!

In what was a tight game, the Hawks held on to beat the Ducks 2-1. A disciplined defensive effort helped Chicago get over the loss of Alexander Radulov. Grinder PJ Axelsson scored an early one and Hedjuk scored one later on in the first to give us the 2 goal advantage we'd need. The team peppered former goalie for a day Nabokov with shots but was not able to solve him in the last two periods. DiPietro had another solid start and will get the start in game 6 as we look to take down the Ducks. Michalek and Radulov will be game time decisions.

Our deal only got us 7 games deep! (Although that was 7 more than you got I suppose!)

Good job and congrats sicamousfan!

Oilers Grease Sharks, move on to round 2!

The injury bug bit the Edmonton Oilers hard in game 4 and made things look pretty grim heading into game 5. But there can always be a silver lining and the Oilers were able to find the best one they could with Mike Cammalleri and Willy Mitchel out of the lineup. With some additional salary cap relief the Oilers went to the system to bring up Tyler Arnason, Jaroslav Hlinka, Lawrence Nycholat, and Jocelyn Thibault for today's game.

As fate would have it three of these players were able to make a positive impact for the Oilers who beat the Sharks 3-0 to close out their Howe Conference semi final in 5 games.

Roberto Luongo who has been the CPHL's top player thus far in the playoffs was sensational in turning aside all 36 shots directed his way. The Sharks knew their season was on the line and pressed furiously in the third period with 15 shots but Luongo turned them all away to ensure he lives to fight another day.

Patrick Sharp scored the game winner 7:05 into the first period after he knocked home a rebound on Christian Ehrhoff's shot. Tyler Arnason and Lawrence Nycholat tallied second period goals which stood up.

Arnason, Thibault and Hlinka all ended up in the AHL at the end of the season after the Oilers had to make a call to try and salvage their roster for next season. But given the chance to come up and help the big team they were able to contribute in a key game.

GM Sylvanfan offers the following. "It's a great win for our guys who really had to gut one out today against a great team. For us to knock off the CPHL's top two teams has been a real team accomplishment. We've been using 11 forwards and all 6 defenceman and today we let everyone play a part and they steepped up and did the job. Luongo's been absolutely huge for us in net and the guys in front of him have found a way to get him the wins. But it really has been a team thing not just 11 guys carrying the entire load. We're pretty happy right now and want to enjoy this for a day or two before we have to get back to business. These guys deserve it."

Crappy night all around. I lose in both sim leagues in game 5s and the Canucks get a bs goal to take the lead in their game 4. FML.

Congrats to Syl. Oilers are making a great run here, reminiscent of the Sharks last season. I guess what comes around goes around in the sim.

And that's all she wrote for the Sharks this year. Luongo was a monster for the Oilers, turning away all 36 shots we poured on him for the shutout. It was a fun year in San Jose nonetheless and we will go home with our heads held high and feeling good about next season.

The good news is I just bought a PS3 so I now that I don't have any more CPHL games for awhile, I have a lot more time to put into playing!

Congrats to the Oilers on their run so far. I see no reason why they can't go all the way if Luongo continues to play like that. Good to see that a top goalie can be the difference, unlike last year.

Congrats to Syl for moving on to the conference finals, I think the Oil will be tough to meet with Loungo playing the way he is.

Congrats to the Sharks for again being a top tier team. I have no doubt that the Sharks team will be even tougher next year. Ryan has done a great job assembling a good team for now and the future.

I would be shocked to see the Ducks and Hawks Series not go 7 games, I see 2 more 1 goal games coming up in that series.
