Default MP's want Seal Skin on Olympic Uniforms

I am shocked at this, the MP's voted today to urge the Olympic team to include seal skin in the uniforms for the 2010 games. Can they not see that this will be a big can of worms as I can see more people having problems with this then going for it.
It is in response to the EU banning seal product imports but there are better ways to do this.

I think it's great! Why? All it is doing is getting a negative reaction and turning more people against the Seal Hunt. Thanks stupid MP's! It is already being discussed here though.

Actually, they're backing an industry that's been mercilessly slandered. That takes more balls than eating tofu and smoking pot.

That's your opinion but from the backlash it does not seem to be the status quo's.

What? The politicians took a stand on something that might hurt Canada's image as the Nice Guy who Never Gets the Girl of nations?

Who proposed this motion so I can send them a "Hell Yah!" letter. Once we've slagged off the Euros, let's start looking around for who else needs to stop hypocritting all over us! Dare I say - China? America? Japan?

I think they should have a mock seal hunt as part of the opening ceremonies. Use the olympic torch to bludgeon a stuffed seal. Then use the marching band to stand in formation to spell out: At least we didn't have to turn off our factories or kill all the stray dogs before the world arrived

They should have the marching band play some Ice Cube to really hammer the point home

Aside from the banning of the seal hunt, which may or may not be right. Why should we be supporting the seal hunt? Maybe I am missing something, seriously, I don't know the ins and outs of this particular story. There is an article stating that the seal hunting may actually cost this country money instead of bringing any money in.

I think our MPs should wear seal skin thongs to show their support for the seal hunt. Maybe we could get a few of the more esthetically pleasing MPs to pose in their seal skin thongs to make a calendar that could be sold to raise funds for people who have lost their livelihoods due to the EU ban, kind of like those Calgary Firefighter Hot Stuff calendars.

Wow, not often I have respect for my MPs, but this is one of those cases. Telling those European elitists to go f themselves is a perfect reaction!

Except they didn't tell those European elitists to go f themselves. They suggested that a national organization tell the European elitists to go f themselves, knowing full well that this particular national organization would not and could not actually deliver that message because it's entirely inappropriate for it to delve into politics.

Wouldn't have been far more appropriate if they had, I don't know, suggested that Prime Minister Harper deliver the message in person while he's over there this week?

To me this is nothing more than politicians using our Olympic athletes to send a message, and personally I don't feel that is the point of the games. Thumbs down.

Maybe we should get really pissed off if the Spanish team shows up wearing Bull Fighting like outfits. Or if the Russian's show up wearing fur. Or the American's show up wearing leather shoes.
