Default Spitfires Win OHL Championship

Spitfires won tonight! Taylor Hall scored 2.09 into the first OT for the win.

They have been on the ice celebrating for 20 minutes and they have had Mickey Renaud's jersey out there with them the whole time. The players draped his jersey over the trophy to hold it up to the crowd and his jersey is front and centre in the team picture.

Very nice tribute to Mickey!

Here is a picture of Nemisz, Hall and Ellis celebrating after the goal.

That's awesome, the spitfires have done a lot to show respect for Mickey.

How has Nemisz been doing BTW.

Nemisz got an assist on the winning goal.

Congrats to Nemisz, Windsor, the entire team. Bob Boughner is running a great program down there, and RIP Micky.. good on the team to keep the memory alive.

Yeah, Boughner has been Brent Sutter like for that franchise. He has done a great job in turning that franchise around and deserves heaps of credit.

Fantastic to see Nemisz in and Tavares and Hodgson out! lol

It will be interesting to see if Sutter goes back to that Windsor well during this years draft.... great junior coaching along with hardwork has as much to do with turning out NHL players as the actual raw talent of a player at 17-years-old IMO.

(IE: 25% coaching, 25% hardwork, 50% talent -- although I suspect many NHL'ers may say hardwork and jr.coaching is an even larger percentage.)

Claeren.

A previous generation of Flames cranking out the next generation of Flames. I like it.

Like Brent after he started to have a lot of success in Red Deer, I would expect Boughner's name to start popping up for the NHL openings this summer.

Missed a step... he'll likely have to be bandied about as a potential head coach of the Canada's World Junior squad before a successful CHL to NHL leap can be made.
