His turn as Pepe Damascus, the ultra-perfumed, oinking, fat villian in The Cheap Detective, might have been his finest moment.
(Fantastic movie . . . . . but a lot of it might fly over your head if you don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of things like The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, The Big Sleep, etc, etc.)
A few months ago I saw some television show with a feature on DeLuise and his love of family and cooking . . . . a different side than the more familiar one the public saw.
