I'm doing my MA in Communications and for one of my assignments, we have to do the following (see below). I need help in finding a YouTube video.
Find a video on YouTube. Then discuss how this video might be seen differently by different audiences. For instance, by women and men. By youth and older people. Write a 1000 word analysis based on Chapter 9 of the textbook.
What I want you to think about is how the social position (or gender position or ethnicity or age, etc.) might alter the way one looks at the same event.
I can't have hockey videos where perspective is related to Oilers/Flames/Canucks etc...Darn! But can someone help me find a video and then I'll do the 1000 word write up myself.
Thanks CP, you rock! I NEED to do this all by midnight tomorrow....so please help me ASAP. Just give me a youtube video that I can base this assignment on.
Here's an example video that a classmate used that the professor said was a good one. Kinda cheezy but her point is that a woman can identify with this but a man really cant. Very stereotypical, but gets her point across that it matters on perspective (a woman's point of view vs a man's). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCo-Ca1cvP0
PLEASE PLEASE HELP, Im stuck. And sorry I forgot to mention we can't do abortion, politics, guns, gay marriage or any of the obvious controversial topics. Sorry Gozer and Yeah Baby..I forgot to say that before you guys posted. But thanks for the help anyways, you guys are so nice!

What about something on Stem Cell research? or is that too political?
too political unfortunately....
and I would love to do a hockey video if it relates to gender/age/race/social status. Unfortunately, can't do a video based on the fact that my perspective is different being an Oilers fan vs being a fan of another team.
^^Gozer, that was hilarious. Any idea how I can describe "how the social position (or gender position or ethnicity or age, etc.) might alter the way one looks at the same event"? Regarding the cop video.
Regarding the boys off the roof..I dont get how i could use this?

I'm more "brainstorming," hopefully one of these videos reminds someone else of something a little more useful.

You're getting a Master's degree for watching videos on YouTube? I definitely went into the wrong field :-(
Yes but I have to write 1000 words related to perspective and the video and all this mumbo jumbo terminology from my textbook...and yeah Communications..good thing I want to teach (you dont need a teaching degree in Cali to teach, no such thing as an education degree) or else i wouldnt have ajob!

Well that one might not do because those fools are probably seriously injured and that makes it "not funny".
Other videos of guys doing stupid stunts (Jackass kind of stuff) appeals very differently to men than they do to women. At least women I know.
I think that is pretty funny. It is completely stupid, but still funny, and the first time I watched it I thought "I might have tried a silly stunt like that when I was 20 years old, if I thought of it".
No woman I know would laugh at it, and they certainly wouldn't nod and think "I would have done that".
Or you can search for Kimbo Slice videos. Guys would watch that crap, women mostly would not. Young people would, old people would not.

You are totally right...I wouldn't laugh at it really....and wouldn't watch it for entertainment. I could use this. Thanks for the video! It really depicts the differences in perspective between men and women
OILFAN#81...thanks for the video as well. It really portrays the concept of gender differences and perspectives well. It was hilarious, especially the end!
